Mantei had a good year last year.

Heres his stats...

2003/ 55.0 IP/ 5 W/ 4 L/ 29 SV's/ 2.62 ERA/ 1.00WHIP / 68 K's

Or do you go with Valverde?

If we could unload Mantei, that'd be great, but its unlikely. So what do you guys think about this situation? '

BTW Heres Valverde's Stats...

50.1 IP/ 2 W/ 1 L/ 10 Sv's/ 2.15 ERA/ 0.99 WHIP/ 71 K's

if mantei is still here then i think that he'll be our closer with valverde setting him up, kinda like houston did last year with dotel and wagner

And as insurance should Mantei go down with an injury again.

I don't think the window of opportunity has closed for Matt to be traded for a RF.

Sadly, I think It has. I would love to see him and Bautista be pacaged to Minnesota for Jones.

D'backs aren't prepared to eat a lot of Mantei's salary just to trade him... and smart teams aren't willing to risk that kind of money on a guy with a history of injury problems.

It's more likely that Mantei will go in a mid season trade to a contending team in dire need of a closer ... if:

1. Mantei's health holds up and he's pitching well

2. the D'backs aren't contending, or

3. their pen is in good enough shape to get through the season with Valverde coming in as closer ... and the other team has something the D'backs covet
