It was a grueling matchup between the Florida Gators and defending two-time national champion UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament's round of 32 on Sunday afternoon inside the Lenovo Center. After 40 minutes of bludgeoning basketball, the Orange and Blue ultimately prevailed, 77-75, to advance to the Sweet 16.
It was UF's first win over UConn in six tries and only the second-ever victory — the first of which came during the 1994 NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16, which required overtime to decide. Thirty-one years later, the Big Dance rematch had all the excitement the first-ever face-off had.
Todd Golden's team lived to play another day thanks to a 23-point effort from Walter Clayton Jr. who led all scorers while Alijah Martin — who carried the team on his shoulders to open the game — finished with 18 and Will Richard with 15 to wrap up the Gators in double-digits.
