It was a busy day for Michigan State basketball on Tuesday, with a number of players hitting the portal.
The day started off with guard Tre Holloman stunning many fans and media members by entering his name into the transfer portal. Holloman was a captain on this past year's team and was expected to return for his senior season next year.
Following Holloman were a pair of Spartan reserves to hit the portal in guard Gehrig Normand and forward Xavier Booker. Both Normand and Booker were players many had expected to hit the portal this offseason and look for opportunities for more playing time elsewhere.

Izzo gives his players culture where he doesn't recruit over them in the portal, makes sure newbies don't come in and makes 4x the rest of the locker room, etc.
And he's thanked by guys having deals set for their next school before March Madness. Culture is a one-way street.

Tre Holloman’s agent confirms Holloman is entering the transfer portal.
In one sense, this surprises me more than any player on MSU’s roster. On the other hand, Holloman probably knows he’s got a year left to make a lot of money.
I’m sure he didn’t make this decision lightly.

Please tell me this Tre Holloman news is a big April Fools joke coordinated by all college basketball news outlets and maybe even Tre to scare Michigan State fans specifically

The more I think about it, the more I think Tre Holloman entering the portal is just leverage for an increased NIL deal
Entering senior year with no real NBA potential, he has to cash in on the one year he has left to make some real money playing Basketball

I will say this, regarding the Tre Holloman news. He’s earned his respect and paid his dues at MSU. He’s put more into this program than any one commenting on X ever will.
And if Tre is just testing the waters and elects to come back, keep the energy you have right now.

Big shocker with Tre Holloman entering the Transfer Portal! A key player for MSU with his solid defense, scoring, and playmaking. Wishing him the best of luck on the next chapter! pic.twitter.com/pOdWF5vUqV

Michigan State big man Xavier Booker has gone portaling, source told @TheFieldOf68.
Was highly ranked (No. 11 per 247 Sports) coming out of high school, but averaged 4.7 points and 2.2 boards and didn't play since the opening round tourney win over Bryant.

Tre Holloman and Gehrig Normand have both entered the transfer portal.
A shout out to both of them for all their tireless effort put into the green and white. Both are outstanding people and will be missed. Good luck guys!
Thank you @jiggyTrawww and @GehrigNormand20#SD4L

With Xavier Booker being the 3rd Spartan today to enter the transfer portal:
Michigan State will have to replace 60% of its minutes played and 65% of its scoring next season. https://t.co/O3SOVRRjhz

Wishing Tre Holloman the best of luck but shopping around the portal in the middle of March Madness is kinda crazy
