Some of us don't see it as good because we may not think that the team improved by signing Smith. He may be as good as Shipp. But better? At this point in his career, I see Smith as a steady, albeit not spectacular back. There may be some of us who are of the opinion that the Cards could have had other "steady" backs for considerably less dollars.
Simply, some of us disagree that he was a good signing. This does not mean we don't enjoy when we read that the Cards sign a star player that is still in his prime.
Some of us may disagree that Cards managment is headed in the right direction. Losing Boston and Rice (both superior talents - like em or not), and signing a has been back that was fortunate enough to play on good teams in his career doesn't necessarily establish that the Cards have turned it around. Emmitt played on a great team. IMO, he himself was no more a "winner" than a lot of other backs that played on bad teams.
I am a Cards' fan. I for one, do not go through life angry and complaining in general. However, the Cards have kept me complaining in regards to their decisions as a professional football fan for a better part of the last 30 years.
Also, this is NFL talk. This is not life. For crying out loud, we are going to disagree on a lot more important things that the Cardinals.
We may disagree. Big deal.
In spite of me not liking the signing of Smith, I hope he runs well for the Cards. Go Cards!
