I realize that I am just a danish guy, who due to the timedifferent and the distance do not have the same possibilities to follow the sport and the Cardinals as you have.

Never the less please hear me out.

Everything I write screams on the fact that I am almost manic about fixing our lines.

The whole scenario are based on a guess that Joe Thomas i taken before number five.

Anyway, here it goes.

First there is the free agency. As I see it, we need to be aggressive here.

Sign Eric Johnson. He is a good target as a tight end and would be a good alternative to Pope.
He might be too expensive to San Francisco. If they means to do anything i free agency and allready have Vernon Davis, Eric Johnson might not be the first guy whose contract is up for extension.

Sign Antwan Peek. We need another linebacker and Peek would fit in.
Texans has 21 free agents. If they want to extend with them all it will cost them.
Peek might be free soon.

Sign Jordan Black. We desperately need depth at offensive tackles and Black is not a bad player. Maybe he is a future starter, maybe he is not. No matter what he would be a good player to have.
Chiefs have already extended Tony Gonzalez contract and Jared Allen might be next on their list. If they intend to try anything in free agency they might not be able to afford Black. Keep in mind players like Kawika Mitchell is out of contract too.

Sign Deltha O´Neal. No explanation needed.
"ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports the Bengals may release Deltha O'Neal this offseason and address the cornerback position in the NFL Draft. Cincy is already set to lose free agent Tory James and took Johnathan Joseph in the '06 first round but O'Neal's play is declining and he was arrested for DUI in December. The Bengals are tinkering with the idea of moving Madieu Williams to corner and this draft is deep at the position."

Sign Ian Scott. He would be a nice fit as defensive tackle. Maybe he were not the best defensive player at Bears but he was a starter at the leagues best defensive team anyway. That cannot be bad.
"Arizona is reportedly a possible landing spot for free agent DT Ian Scott. Scott and Kendrick Clancy could split nose-tackle duties, as Clancy is a shade undersized and wore down last year. Scott is a natural run stuffer."

Sign Charles Grant. Obviously a huge strengthening. The Saints are probably not thrilled to get rit of him, but they will have to consider how and if they want to keep him. They might give him a franchise tag but that will cost them big time. Then they can put the transition tag on him. That would make him cheaper to them but also gives other teams the possibility the offer him a contract. Of course Saints have first option, but if they lose him anyway they will not get any compensation.
The same mistake Seattle made last year regarding Steve Hutchinson.
If he were to become a free agent and Arizona signed him, he would replace Okeafor immediately.

Pittsburgh are maybe satisfied with Trai Essex and Willie Colon as offensive tackles and it would therefore not be nonsens to imagine them offering Max Starks the lowest tender. If so we are to give away our third draftpick to get him. I think that is acceptable. I really like the idea of Starks taking care of Leinarts blindside.
"Steelers offensive lineman Max Starks, a restricted free agent who owns a house in Mesa, would love to play in Arizona. He said new Cardinals offensive-line coach Russ Grimm is the best in the business."

Then we are at the draft.

I think we should trade with either the Falcons or the Dolphins. I do not really know which player they could give us, but then a second or third round pick at the least.
If we were to choose at number nine or ten we could do three things. Either we could pick Amobi Okoye. A defensive tackle who can also play defensive end. 19 years old. Huge talent.
Or we could fill out a big need by picking Reggie Nelson. He would be a starter at once, substituting Robert Griffrith and making a good teamwork with Adrian Wilson.
Or we cut take Darrelle Revis and fill out another need.

In the second round we can pick Joe Staley or Ryan Kalil. Either we get a strong offensive tackle or very good center which we might not need but who has the potential to be in the pro bowl.

If we get a draftpick here instead of a player from Atlanta or Miami, we could pick Michael Bush as a good backup to Edgerrin James, or we could strengthen the defensive line furthermore with defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock

In the fourth round we could take Rufus Alexander if he is still there. Maybe not at first but pretty fast he will be able to attending the starting lineup.
If Alexander has been taken we could pick Dan Bazuin. A strong defensive end who would create depth and who is a strong pass rusher.

Maybe my scenarios in the third and the fourth round should be switched around.

The fifth pick we could spend on Tim Shaw. He would be a good pick if Alexander is not there in the fourth. Shaw can play defensive end, but at the Hula Bowl he switched back to his old position as a linebacker. If he is not moving up after scouting combine he seems like a little scoop at round five.

Round six we could use to get a backup quarterback. With Navarre in free agency and Warner not being any younger we could use another reserve to Leinart. If any of them are left in the sixth round Jeff Rowe, John Beck og Zac Thomas could be possibilities.

In the seventh round we pick best player available.

Please give me your oppinion.

Great first post Ghandi. Welcome to the ASFN board.

The only problem I noticed is with O'Neal. If he has a recent DUI, the Cards will not try to get him. They value high moral characters.

Then he is probably not an issue.

Nate Clements will probably cost to much.

Revis maybe.

Welcome, I like a lot of your picks, and think that we have many of the same positions in mind for upgrades. I like Eric Johnson, but probably because I remember him killing us one game last year I believe...(could have been 2 years ago)

1. Disagree on Jordan Black. He's not very good at anything.

2. Deltha O'Neal has now been let go by two teams. He's a bust.

3. Eric Johnson is injury prone. He just cannot stay healthy.

4. Antwaan Peek is a very good suggestion. I hope we go after him.

Welcome, Gandhi.

Peek is considered a pretty good pass rusher, right?

Thats what people keep saying but he has yet to prove it. He has only ever been aven an average pass rusher when he started as a 3-4 OLB 2 seasons ago and came out with 6 sacks. The other 3 years of his career he has been a pretty bad pass rushing DE in the 4-3 scheme. Unless we are for some reason moving to a 3-4 scheme without notice Peek would be a waste as a 4-3 DE in our scheme.

Is Ghandi buying, or what?

If so, I'll take a gyro and a greek salad. And a Corona. In the bottle.

Yep. nubes buy. I'll take an Italian beef and a Stella Artois.

So, being a "Danish guy" how did you come to pull for the Cards, Gandi?

Actually, I wouldn't mind one of those soft-serve ice cream cones I used to get back in Copenhaegen. They were more like cool-whip than ice cream, but still very tasty.

Great first post!

Good question.

Beside Bach and myself I do not think anyone in Denmark supports the Cardinals. It is all about the fantastic Manning, marvelleous Shaun Alexander or most entertaining Vick.

I do not like any of those, and I do not like just run with the crowd either.

That is why I choose what I believe is the most talented team overall.

1. Disagree on Jordan Black. He's not very good at anything.

I suggested Black most of all because he is a free agent and an acceptable backup. It was never my intention that he should start for the team.

2. Deltha O'Neal has now been let go by two teams. He's a bust.

He is dropped. I did not know Cardinals had a morale codecs.

Welcome, Gandhi.

Thank you.

Heh, awesome...I love being "that guy". Being a Cards fan generally puts you in that position. Overly optimistic as well, that's another step in the right direction, welcome to the Cards family!:D

I realize that I am just a danish guy, who due to the timedifferent and the distance do not have the same possibilities to follow the sport and the Cardinals as you have.

We do have the possibility to see a lot of games through streams though. The timedifference is the most annoying thing IMO.

First there is the free agency. As I see it, we need to be aggressive here.

The Cardinals is indeed in a very good salary cap position, so i have to agree that would be the right way to handle the free agency, although a lot of teams are much under the salary cap so some players are going to get a contract they just is not worth.

Sign Eric Johnson. He is a good target as a tight end and would be a good alternative to Pope.
He might be too expensive to San Francisco. If they means to do anything i free agency and allready have Vernon Davis, Eric Johnson might not be the first guy whose contract is up for extension.

He is injury prone. For sure any team has to consider that before signing him. That being said i really like Eric Johnson and it seems like Cardinals need some production from the tight ends. Eric Johnson has the potential to be a very productive tight end so i think he would be a nice signing. I prefer him over any tight end in the free agency if i should pick one for the Packers (To all of you guys who does not know me, i am Cheesehead. Just hoping to be welcome here anyway).

Great idea. I do not think Ian Scott is more than average as a fulltime starter but as a part time defensive tackle he indeed would be the money worth (unless he wants big money, anyway. But i doubt he is in a position to demand that).

I really do not think they will only give Starks the low-tender. A lot of teams could use a great right tackle and the free agency does not seems to have many good offensive tackles at all. Therefor i think he is more than a 3rd round pick worth. He would be a great signing in case they only give him the low-tender though.

I love Amobi Okoye and would not be upset if it was the Packers who choosed him in the bottom of top 10. But still he might not be that good yet so i think it is a reach to pick him that high.

Reggie Nelson is a great pick.

Darrelle Revis might be a good pick too but not in the top 10. I do not think any of the cornerbacks in this years draft is good enough to the top 10. I would not consider any of them before the last part of first round even though i know Revis or/and Leon Hall maybe be gone by then.

If i where the Cardinals i would consider Levi Brown.

In the second round we can pick Joe Staley or Ryan Kalil. Either we get a strong offensive tackle or very good center which we might not need but who has the potential to be in the pro bowl.

Great picks. Staley is maybe needs to work on a couple of things before he is ready to enter the NFL as a starter, but he has great talent on would really be worth a second rounder in the long term. I was really impressed about Ryan Kalil during the senior bowl. Great player and i think he has starting material from day one.

If we get a draftpick here instead of a player from Atlanta or Miami, we could pick Michael Bush as a good backup to Edgerrin James, or we could strengthen the defensive line furthermore with defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock

I like your pick of Michael Bush here. If it wasn't for the injury prone i think he would be a first round pick. Cardinals are in good position to take the risk because you already have a great starters and some decent backups in case Michael Bush continue getting injuries. If it is just a third round pick i do not think Michael Bush i availible anymore.

I like Quinn Pitcock and think he would be a good pick in the third round. He should not be considered in the second round in case it is a second round pick Cardinals gets from Atlanta or Miami.

I am close to promise you a season card for Copenhagens games next season if Rufus Alexander is availible in the fourth round ;-) Actually i think it is doubtful he will be availible in the third round. If he is there i would pick without giving it a second thought. Dan Bazuin would be a good pick as well.

Great pick.

Really good picks once again. Especially the picks of Jeff Rowe and Zac Taylor would be great to any team who operate in a west coast offense.

I know i am not good at english, but i am hoping it was understandable.

Mostly you are right, but acutally i think 49ers is still the most popular team in Denmark. Most of them have been pretty quiet the last couple of years though ;-)
