damn, when I first saw the title Soul Men, I was really hoping it was a sequel to the 80's classic Soul Man which picked up with C. Thomas Howell's character 22 years later on the day he loses what he thought was a guaranteed promotion to partner in the most prestigious law firm in the city to an up and coming African American Associate. However, when he quits his job in protest, burning every bridge he built behind him, he finds himself unable to find another job and with nowhere left to turn, he does what he does best, donning the black face again to take advantage of affirmative action while learning a lesson about racism, while catching another bout of jungle fever along the way!
Don't just sit there - write the script !!![]()
better yet, in Soul Men, it's 22 years later and C. Thomas Howell's trouble-making 15 year old kid has just gotten kicked out of his 4th prep school in one year. As a marked man (student), the only way to get his son a great education is for both he and C. Thomas to don black face and masquerade as an African American Father and Son from the ghetto in order to get into a stuffy, predominantly white prep-school who's taking a beating in the press for a lack of minority students.
I assume the poster would be C. Thomas Howell and, I don't know, one of the Jonas Brothers standing on either side of the words SOUL MEN with some kind of horrifically offensive tagline below them which reads:
He's a chocolate chip off the old block.
Why does this sound like a "lost" Dave Chappelle sketch?
