The South Bay Lakers played their final home game of this season at UCLA Health Training Center on Tuesday against the Santa Cruz Warriors, a team they defeated on Monday by a final score of 122-118. South Bay will not be heading to the G League playoffs, but it did end its home schedule on a high note.
After giving up 76 points in the first half and trailing by as many as 18 points, South Bay charged back and ended the first half down by nine points. It then controlled the second half and won both the third and fourth quarters, and it came back from a 128-120 deficit with just 2:37 left in the game to notch a 134-130 victory.
Quincy Olivari led the way on this night. The undrafted rookie guard had a nightmare performance on Monday by missing all but one of his 11 shot attempts, but on Tuesday, he went 9-of-17 overall to score 33 points while adding eight rebounds and eight assists. His 3-pointer with under a minute left tied the game at 130-all, and he secured the victory by making two free throws for South Bay's final points.
Bronny James went 14-of-21 overall for 39 points on Monday, but unfortunately, he couldn't follow up that career-best effort with one that was at least respectable. He was just 5-of-18 from the field on Tuesday — however, he did go 5-of-12 from downtown while dishing off nine assists and adding two steals. He hit a key trey with 1:23 left to bring his team to within three points before Olivari knotted the score.
