The South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team has been thriving under the leadership of head coach Dawn Staley for years.
Staley recently helped South Carolina compete for a national title, but fell short of hoisting the trophy, with a title game loss to Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies.
After the season, in which the Gamecocks defeated Tennessee Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Duke and Texas in the NCAA Tournament, a couple of players announced their decisions on their future at South Carolina.
One of the few players to transfer out of the program and leave Dawn Staley was Sakima Walker.
On Saturday, she officially announced her transfer portal decision, committing to California as a grad transfer.
She revealed her commitment announcement on social media while attaching a motivational note.
"This one's personal," Walker said.

Last season with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Walker posted 1.4 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. She struggled to see the floor on the Final Four team, by capping off the season playing 5.5 minutes per game.
Heading into the 2025-26 season with the Golden Bears, Walker will be playing her fifth and final season at the collegiate level.

Walker began her career at Rutgers. She played two seasons with the Scarlet Knights and followed that with two seasons in the SEC with Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Throughout her college basketball career, the 6-foot-5 center, has averaged 2.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.
