Dibling’s shot hits the post and Onuachu taps home — Southampton 1-2 Wolves

In truth, Saints deserve that. Dibling runs free and his curler hits the post and bounces straight back to half time sub Onuachu. He taps home and Saints have a chance of grabbing something with just over 15 minutes to go.

Saints should pull one back

A corner is whipped in and Dibling heads it over from six yards out. He was totally unmarked. The home side are scrapping away.

Sugawara’s shot pushed over, then Onuachu denied

Saints break down the right and Sugawara's shot is on target but Sa pushes it over for a corner. The corner comes in and Onuachu's header is pushed wide by Sa.

Strand Larsen scores right after half time — Southampton 0-2 Wolves

So so easy for Wolves. They win it back and play in Strand Larsen and he has so much time to pick his spot across goal and finish.

Half time: Southampton 0-1 Wolves

Efficient first half from Wolves as they had one big chance and Strand Larsen finished it. Saints had plenty of the ball but struggled to create clear chances. Wolves are on their way to a huge win in their battle for safety.

Saints almost equalize

Sulemana is in down the left and cuts it inside. Wolves somehow clear it from close range. Saints are pushing before half time.

Strand Larsen gives Wolves an early lead — Southampton 0-1 Wolves

Belegarde's cross from the right finds Strand Larsen totally unmarked and he heads home so poor defensively from Saints. Ramsdale should do better too.

Saints have started well

The sun is shining in Southampton and their players have started with plenty of promise. Suleman somehow couldn't finish a cross from close range as Semedo cleared. Aribo is heavily involved in a fluid move but his shot is blocked and then he drills another shot just over after good work from Sulemana. Wolves yet to really wake up.

Southampton vs Wolves prediction

Saints have allowed 2+ expected goals against in four-straight games, with two of those games an eye-popping 4.99 and 5.12 to Liverpool and Brighton. But you know what? Maybe because it's St. Patrick's Day weekend here in the United States. Maybe it's because Saints have a player nicknamed Tall Paul. I'm gonna do it. I don't know why. These games happen sometimes and sometime will be this Saturday at St. Mary's. Southampton 2-1 Wolves.

Southampton vs Wolves preview

Saints have just nine points this season, still on track to be the worst haul ever in a Premier League season, and would max out at 39 by winning their final 10 games. Wolves' 23 points would be relegation-worthy most years but the struggles of Saints, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City have allowed Vitor Pereira's men to count themselves six points above the drop. Wolves get all three of the teams below them on the table in the next six Premier League fixtures, so their Premier League future is far from concrete. Even without the suspended Matheus Cunha, they'll feel three points are a must down south. They'll look to collect them on the heels of a 2W-1L-2D run.
