MCHENRY — Hayden Williams gave Southern the lead, and Jared Haskiell delivered a quality start to lead the Rams to a 5-3 win over No. 4 Fort Hill on Saturday.
The Rams (4-2, 3-1 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the third before Williams cleared the bases for a three-RBI triple.
Haskiell earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in five innings pitched, striking out 10 and walking one.
Cade Leader picked up the save throwing two shutout innings of two-hit ball.
Williams drove in four runs to lead the Southern offense, Reece Tasker had three hits, and Brayden Upole and Ryan Bird had two singles each.
Bobby Brauer paced Fort Hill (6-3, 3-3 WestMAC) with a 3-for-4 day with a triple and two runs scored. Coye Resh and Carson Bender had two hits each.
Colt Resh took the loss surrendering five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4 1/3 frames. Bender threw 1 2/3 shutout innings of relief.
Fort Hill hosts Petersburg (8-0) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Southern hosts Meyersdale on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Hampshire beats Grafton, Parkersburg
Hampshire tripled its win total Saturday, defeating Grafton, 8-4, and Parkersburg, 7-3.
The Trojans (3-9) trailed 4-0 entering the fifth inning but scored three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh to pull away.
Mark Richman had three hits and two RBIs, and he earned the win on the mound allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Ayden Crabtree pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
Brayden Hott also had three hits for the Trojans and drove in a pair, and Ethan VanMeter also had a pair of hits.
Grafton starter John Gouzd was tabbed with a no decision after he allowed three unearned runs on five hits in five innings. Noah Fletcher was dealt the loss.
Against Parkersburg, Cannon Mowery broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning with a bases-clearing hit. Richman also doubled for the Trojans.
Mowery was dealt a no decision on the mound, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit through 3 2/3 frames. Channing Wilt was the winning arm, allowing an unearned run over 3 1/3 innings of relief.
Logan Fling took the loss for Parkersburg.
Hampshire hosts Pendleton County on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
No. 3 Northern 9 Albert Gallatin 0
UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Robert Deatelhauser threw a complete game shutout, leading No. 3 Northern to a win at Albert Gallatin on Friday.
Deatelhauser only allowed three hits while striking out nine for the Huskies (6-1).
Luke Ross led Northern with three hits and two stolen bases.
Wally Brands, Cole Folk and Nick Riley each recorded two hits.
The Huskies host Mountain Ridge (2-4) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Martinsburg 8-16 East Hardy 0- 1
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Martinsburg used a pair of complete-game gems from Grant Henderson and Jacob Blosser to sweep East Hardy Saturday.
In the first game, Henderson threw a two-hit shoutout in seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
In the second, Blosser allowed a run on two hits in the five-inning, run-rule victory with five Ks and no walks.
Bradley Loper homered for the Bulldogs in Game 2.
Levi Price drove in East Hardy’s lone run in the twinbill.
The Cougars (1-5) were still without All-Area second-teamers Garrett VanMeter and Mason Hamilton, who haven’t played since their opener against Frankfort on March 28.
East Hardy is at Tygarts Valley on Monday at 6 p.m.
