Earlier this week sporting news published an award section for the nba. This is the site that ranked the suns 28th in the pre season. I sent the guy a letter for claiming GS was his surprise team, while phx clearly improved the most according to their rankings. The letter go published on the site, here it is.

How can you not pick Phoenix as the surprise team? Isn't this the same site that had the Suns ranked 28th in the league in preseason power rankings? I think that any team that was looked so horribly upon -- but has made the playoffs and will give its opponent fits throughout the first round -- should be considered.

That's great. I love how you stick it to them for predicting the Suns would be one of the worst teams in the NBA. I can't think of another team that has surprised people, including their own fans, as much as the Phoenix Suns. As for the biggest surprises in the NBA I would say it has to be Amare Stoudemire. Even after the summer league nobody expected him to have such a big impact on his team and the league. Plenty of people predicted Yao Ming would have an immediate impact.
