"traditionally stingy Cardinals". Some things never change with the media.

I found it interesting they didn't even mention McFadden, who I personally consider our 2nd best offseason move this season...

I do agree on most of the other fronts though...

Analytical part of the piece was balanced and fair. Despite it's source being listed as RealScouts, the tone and selection of words sounded like it was coming from Kent S.

Mod - I hate to get picky (especially since the Sporting News piece was so informative) but isn't one ASFN rule of the road that pieces shouldn't be lifted and repro'd verbatim?

If our Worst Free Agent move was losing JJ Arrington that is was an outstanding FA period.

Agree on everything except DE being our biggest need.

Smith was our biggest loss. It will hurt this team IMO, but he was extremely overpaid so it was a no brainer to let him walk.

I don't think its been true for several years. So they should have said the formerly traditionally stingy Cardinals.
Several years? Boldin is just one example...

But I will agree the team has improved its management by leaps and bounds.

i agree. They are giving JJ way more credit that he deseves. So what if he was the field for the 4th quarter. We were in all out pass mode. He's easily replaceable and did nothing that no other 3rd down back in the NFL could do. Wright will be every bit as good in that role except for ,maybe, kickoff returns.

Pretty acurate report. Interesting that it said the team is looking both for a two way DE that can play on the los and on the outside providing a pass rush. Then on top of that a SOLB to put more heat on the passer.

To me, we already have the first part of the equation and that would be Calias Campbell. He can play 4/3 DE, 3/4 DE or could swing out to Berry's 3/4
Will backer spot and be effective , IMO. We would have to see more in the pre-season however.

All that would be predicated on how Iwebema or someone else work out as well. I would think that between Berry, LaBoy, Campbell and Iwebema that the WOLB spot should be well manned this coming season. Even more so if we bring in an extra 3/4 DE - 4/3 DT prospect.

That's why I'd like to see Hood as the pick at 31 or trade down some and target him and pick up an extra pick to address the WOLB, RB, C/OG, FS and possibly TE positions as well. With Hood we could be very flexable on how The D lines up from series to series. We can shift from 4/3 to 3/4 on any given series and create all kinds of disruption and looks for opposing staffs and O's to deal with. It could be a nightmare. For them.:p

I agree. Did they miss something or not impressed with that signing?

How is the Boldin situation an example?

Boldin is an example in proving what DuckJake said is true. Remember they ripped up his rookie contract and signed him to a new one before they had to. Previous years they wouldn't have doen anything like that.

Didn't I read somewhere about 1-2 years ago that AZ had paid out the third most in salary and bonuses over the previous 5 years in the league?
