I think that Sportrac, although certainly not perfect, does a solid job projecting the market value of UFAs.

Here are some of the ones they have determined thus far---and my question to you is---would you want to sign any of these free agents at these market values?

DE Calais Campbell (30)----4/$34M/$8.4M (yearly ave.)
DE Chris Baker (29)---4/$29.8M/$7.4M
DT Kawann Short (27)---5/$86M/$17.2M

Yes---Campbell---fair value, imo.

EDGE Chandler Jones (26)---5/$81.3/$16.2
EDGE DeMarcus Ware (34)---2/$15.3M/$7.6M
EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul (28)---5/$73M/$14.6M
EDGE Andre Branch (27)---5/$36.5M/$7.3M

No---Jones---too pricey, imo.
Yes---Branch---like the athleticism and size at that price

G Kevin Zeitler (26)---5/$58M/$11.6M
C J.C. Tretter (25)----6/$52.5M/$8.7M
G Ron Leary (27)---4/$36.5/$9.1M
G T.J. Lang (29)---4/$33.6/$8.4M

No---too pricey for all these guys

SS Tony Jefferson (24)---5/$31M/$6.1M
FS Eric Berry (28)---4/$36.5M/$9.1M

Yes---Berry---what a coup that would be for the Cardinals.
No---Jefferson---at $4.8 a year, yes, but not at $6.1

CB Prince Amukamara (27)---4/$43.9M/$10.9M
CB Trumaine Johnson (27)---4/$52.2/$13M

No---too pricey

WR Alshon Jeffery (26)---5/$61M/$12.2M
WR DeSean Jackson (30)---2/$15.2M/$7.6M
WR Terrelle Pryor (27)---4/$35.6/$8.9M
WR Kenny Stills (24)---5/$41.2M/$8.2M
WR Terrence Williams (27)---4/$33M/$8.2M
WR Kenny Britt (28)---3/$20.1/$6.7M

Yes---Jeffrey---the age and price are right.
Yes---Stills---I think he could be dynamic in our offense

QB Kurt Cousins---5/$117M/$23.4M

No---too pricey

What do you think?

Minter is not in the list
What is worth?

I think the difference between Short and Campbell is absurd

What corderelle Patterson could ask
He is not a wr2 but is a great weapon for special teams

They haven't determined Minter's or Patterson's yet.

Does Kenny Stills have any experience returning punts? That's a little pricey for me if not.

What do you think?

I think if we ever had to re-sign an elite QB your head would explode. :D

That, I think people are crazy to think about letting Chandler Jones walk. You simply do not find pass rushers, it too this team nearly a decade to find one after Bertand Berry.

I know, I know. Chandler Jones "sucks". My advice, is to imagine he is on another team, most times that leads people to think he is going to be a Hall of Famer. :D

I'll take C.Jones at whatever the cost, again, I know he sucked so bad that the Cardinals lead the league in sacks, but I am just hard headed like that.

I'll let Campbell walk. You would think a fan base that likes the Patriots so much would learn that it doesn't pay to give big contracts to players over 30.

I'll let Jefferson walk, and dream about Berry being on the team, but realize DJ Swearing is going to be the guy.

I'll take Larry Warford at OG, even though his name is not up there, which is good, so that probably means he will be less than any of those players, and he would fit this offensive line like a glove.

I'll take Dre Kirkpatrick at CB, since he is 6'2", 190lbs and has been playing on one of the better defenses his whole NFL career.

At Wide Receiver I initially wanted Pryor but his price is ridiculous. He is not that good. I would not think about Kenny Stills if John Brown was healthy, but he is not. Stills would be a good pick up, but that is not going to help alleviate Larry Fitzgerald's blocking duties, but I know a veteran who is very old who blocks better than some tight ends that can play the slot. Then there is Andre Holmes who I have always liked for some reason that I cannot fathom.

In agreement with Rugby's above post.

The Cardinals have already stated that if they don't arrive at a contract agreement with Chandler Jones, they will franchise him. I am pretty sure the franchise number is close to the number given by Sportrac (in opening post).

Not sure what happens when Marcus Golden's current contract expires. . .

Oh, and Campbell would be a bargain at the above listed price!

For Jones I'd be curious what the guaranteed $$ would be. It seems to be around 55% of contract value, +/- and position.

Just a guess but that would put probably Jones' guaranteed money around $44mil. Some team would pay that, but not the Cards.

The Cards could go the Dansby route and franchise him back-to-back too

So, I take it that you think that Seattle made a mistake signing Bennett, who is older than CC?

Hell No to Pryor - he's way too full of himself and apparently nobody likes him in the locker room, and we don't need a guy like that here.

Campbell at that price? Resign him today.

Tony Jefferson - keep him. Eric Berry would be great, but he's probably staying put in KC.

Draft McCaffery if at all possible, I think he fits this offense to a T, and solves a nagging problem by becoming the kick returner, and a damn good one.

Big Ben clearly not happy at Pittsburgh - reunite him with BA, move Palmer? Intriguing.

They're low on Campbell and a little high on Jones. Sadly I think they're close on Jefferson. I'd pass all the rest.

You know, I am actually thinking letting jones/palmer go and making a run at cousins may not be a bad idea.

I think he is a top 10 qb and still pretty young.

You just don't get a chance at that kind of qb often, and we will need one by next year.

I would pass on Jefferson at that price, I think I actually prefer swearinger anyway, accept not real sure about him off the field.

Campbell is a tough call, I just don't think he has 4 years in him at a high level, but if we let jones go he has to stay.

Where is all this money coming from? We will have about 44 million w/o Washington's cap hit, and with the rollover. 15 million for Chandler Jones, 6 million for rookies. You leave 4-5 million for replacing players that go to IR, injury settlements etc. So there is 25 million. Leaving you with 19 million for all our free agents.

Campbell
Gresham
Rucker
Jefferson
Swearinger
Minter
Shipley
(Okafor's contract not updated yet in otc or sportrac)
Watford
Marcus Cooper
Catanzaro
Fells
Ellington
Taylor

You have to replace or resign these players on 19 million. That is the budget. Sure we could restructure Palmers deal, or someone elses but then you end up stealing from your future. The truth is this roster was built with a goal in mind to win either last year, or the year before and we didn't. Truth is we are likely going to have less depth in 2017, then we did in 2016. Likely a less talented team with Palmer, and Fitz being yet another year older.

Agreed. Alston is wayyyy too injury prone to give him that scratch.

Yes Im quoting myself, because overthecap just did an article on this issue the Cardinals face. The worst situation this year in regards to FA in the league imo. And apparently theirs.

"The Cardinals, who finished the year a disappointing 7-8-1, have the largest amount of turnover in the NFL. They will lose about 40% of their snaps to free agency this year, a majority of which comes from contributors. Their general age is relatively young at 27.7 so it’s not like this should be a cheap group of players. Arizona is in a difficult spot because you look at some of their key positions and see an older team whose window may be shutting, and now you run the risk of overpaying for players on what could be a fading team. Free agents include Chandler Jones, Tony Jefferson, and Calais Campbell."

What I have been trying to say all year.

Bottom line, the Cards "future" of winning rides almost strictly on the ability of Bask to acquire a quality QB past 2017 & that's the bottom line!!!

Dumping Palmer and Jones for Cousins... yikes! Larry will be like, "why did I come back" while Cousins learns the new system to become an average starting QB and the Cardinals again have to search for a young pass rusher while the Cardinals are going to Dennys to find a old vet on the merry go round one year contract 'prove it' we have no stability to put pressure on a QB route
