March Madness isn't just about highlighting the best NCAA Division I Men's Basketball teams. It's also a time to honor the most beloved mascots.

Sports Illustrated released a ranking of every mascot in the 2025 NCAA Men's Tournament field. Out of the 68 teams featured, Xavier University's two mascots, D'Artagnan the Musketeer and the Blue Blob, took the No. 1 spot.

According to SI, D'Artagnan, which first appeared at a Xavier sporting event in October 1965, would be a "top-20 mascot" on its own. But it's the university's secondary mascot, the Blue Blob, that is the "main attraction."

The Blue Blob was created in 1985 as a kid-friendly alternative to the sometimes-scary main mascot. The costume features a Muppet-like nose, hound eyes and, of course, blue fur.

"A star of stage and screen, the ever-huggable, unflappable Blue Blob is as Cincinnati as Over-the-Rhine and Skyline Chili. Long may he roll," Sports Illustrated's Patrick Andres wrote.

But Xavier wasn't the only school in Ohio featured on the list.

Zippy, the University of Akron's kangaroo mascot, ranked No. 2. Zippy, who was No. 1 last year, even has her own NIL deal.
