Given that Russ Ortiz now becomes the answer to the trivia question of what player was released with the largest guaranteed contract in baseball history, does anyone who knows baseball memorabilia know if there might be interest in an official major league baseball certified and signed by Russ Ortiz? It is actually certified in writing as authentic by the Diamondbacks and MLB.

Wait and see if Ortiz dies in a tragic accident. That would incease the value significantly.

Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Say what you will about Ortiz, he is truly one of the good guys in baseball and noone deserves pre-mature death.

Doubt it, I dont think there was any increase in demand for Denny Neagal merchandise (the former holder of the record).

I was making fun of the sports memorabilia industry not making light of death.

Though I have been known to make light of death.

I hope that tub of lard is ashamed of himself. The team commits a guaranteed contract to the guy, and he shows up this year like a glistening ham. He are being paid more than eight million a year (avg) and disgustingly overweight.
