Trying to plan a trip to Arizona for a couple games. Not many things better than sitting on a berm watching baseball.

Love spring training .... will have to make it out to the new salt river digs sometime
Last year I saw games at Salt River (D'backs), then, out of curiosity, at Camelback Ranch (Dodgers).

I was shocked that, despite them being built only a few years apart not too long ago, Camelback Ranch looks like a run of the mill Spring Training park while Talking Stick looks like a miniature Major League ballpark.

The biggest contrasts were the scoreboards. The size of the jumbo screens, for example. D'backs rock. Small market team indeed!

I was speaking with Brett Butler last year and he told me that at last count, the tribe had spent in excess of $140 MILLION on Salt River Fields... He mentioned the club houses and how "over the top" they are in relation to any other spring training park. Flat Screens, Hot Tubs and huge, roomy lockers all over the place...
I attended several games there last year and LOVED it! It's a beautiful park. Very well done and thought-out. Great location. Between the Spring Training games, the golf at Talking Stick (2 courses, North and South), and of course, the huge new hotel & casino - the tribe have really created a tremendous experience!
