Per PFT the cards could send Starks to N.E. for a third rounder but we have the swap our forth with their fifth

Yeah I know. I was just joking that was what we should talk about.

Sorry, it's been a long slow day.

Isn't their third round pick practically a 4th?

That's right.

The last time we had the last pick of the third round we took Dennis Johnson. Our other third round pick that year was McCown.

.. and the guys that broke the "Randy Moss is about to be traded to the Raiders story" that everyone laughed off. And a couple of days before the NFL draft 5 or 6 years ago they broke a story that, get this, the Colts aren't going to take Ricky Williams, but Edgerrin James instead, tee hee hee.

Everyone likes to knock that site. But a lot of what they've printed has been true. Sure its the National Enquirer of NFL gossip, but they're right a lot more often than they're given credit for.

CARDS SWAPPING STARKS TO PATS?

A league source tells us that the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots are close to working out a trade for cornerback Duane Starks.

In return, the Cards would get New England's third-round pick. The teams also would flip-flop their fifth-round selections in the upcoming draft, a benefit for the Pats, who draft at the bottom of the round.

The deal, we're told, hinges on whether Starks will re-do his contract. The Pats have limited wiggle room under the cap, and Starks might not be inclined to cooperate, which could kill the deal.

If you sling enough **** at the wall, eventually something is bound to stick.

I'm not too sure that we'll get much better of a trade bite from anyone else. Starks is expensive at $3.5 annually and we know that he's injury prone. Frees up some cap space to use on another potential FA CB. I'd be tempted with this offer.

GEt an extra third rounder for Starks is very fair. So, we swap fifth rounders, it's a crap shoot down there anyways. Pull that string. Plus we gain cap space for a guy like Surtain.

Starks was on Sirius NFL Radio earlier and stated that within the next day or two something should be announced regarding his future with the team.

IMO, I like Starks. Just wish he could stay healthy for the entire year. I personally I wouldn't mind if he remains on the team for another year.

Exactly, Starks is expensive and injury prone. Bad combo. We're lucky to get a third. Hell get a fourth for him from someone else if we don't need to swap 5ths. Time to move him and bring in new blood.
