While they didn't quite claim the grand prize of a state title, four teams from the Salem-Keizer closed out their respective season by placing at the OSAA state basketball tournaments.

The Stayton girls squad captured its first title since 2007 with a thrilling win over Philomath at Forest Grove High School.

Here's a look at how the rest of the local teams fared on the final day of the season.

Class 6A boys (Chiles Center)

After falling in the 6A quarterfinals to No. 1 Barlow, Sprague went on a thrilling run through the consolation bracket to take fourth place — matching the Olympians' 1995-96 team for the program's best-ever finish at the state tournament.

No. 8 Sprague beat No. 2 Tualatin, 67-61, at Chiles Center in Portland to close out the year with a 24-5 record.

Anthony Best scored a team-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds, and Jarod Stanley scored 19. Braxton Long had nine points, five assists and four steals.

Class 5A girls (Linfield Unviersity)

After winning the 5A title last year, the Silverton girls closed out the 2024-25 campaign by taking home hardware once again.

The No. 2 Foxes beat No. 4 Redmond, 38-33, at Linfield University in McMinnville in Saturday's third-place/fifth-place game.

Marley Wertz scored a team-high 12 points and tallied three steals. Allie Mansur scored 11 points and Hadley Craig had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

The Foxes end their season at 25-4.

Class 4A boys (Forest Grove High School)

For the second consecutive season, Cascade took third place in Class 4A.

The No. 1 Cougars beat No. 14 Mazama, 67-57 at Forest Grove High School to close out the year with 23-4 record.

Senior guard Kaiden Ford finished his high school career with 39 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Senior Landon Knox scored 19 points and tallied four assists and four steals.

Class 4A girls (Forest Grove High School)

The Cascade girls fell in their final game of the year, but finished the season with a state podium finish nonetheless.

No. 11 Baker beat the No. 5 Cougars, 53-35, in the third-place/fifth-place game at Forest Grove High School. After taking third at last year's tournament, Cascade finishes this season 19-8.

Rozalynn Schmunk led Cascade with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
