Bob Becker has called it a career.

The Morton girls basketball coach announced his retirement via social media on Friday afternoon, ending one of the area's most decorated coaching careers. Becker amassed a career mark of 629-183 (.775) with eight state trophies including four Class 3A state titles (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) in 26 seasons.

"Although it's difficult to end something you love doing," Becker said as part of a lengthy statement, "it's time and I'm ready to retire from both teaching and coaching."

The Potters won 13 Mid-Illini Conference championships, highlighted by six in a row from 2015-2020. Morton also won the league's only conference tournament in 2021.

Morton's 2024-25 season ended in the Class 3A sectional title game to eventual state third-place finisher Washington. The Potters, who went 25-7 and finished second in the Mid-Illini Conference at 12-2, are expected to return a pair of all-Mid-Illini sophomores in Paige Selke (first team) and Abby VanMeenen (second team).
