Trade rumors have surrounded Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens since last offseason.
Even after the Steelers have added D.K. Metcalf via trade from the Seattle Seahawks, it seems everyone wants to ship Pickens out of Pittsburgh.
Everyone except the one that matters, that is.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan answered the question about a possible Pickens trade during a pre-draft presser.
"No," Khan said. "I mean we're glad we have George and DK here. I think they're gonna be exciting for everyone to watch. Excited to have DK here, but no."
But ...
Everyone from ESPN's Adam Schefter to Pro Football Focus thinks Pickens will be somewhere else next season.
CowboysCountry.com has written about the idea of Pickens moving to the Dallas Cowboys. (See below.)
Mason Cameron of PFF can see Pittsburgh and Denver cutting a deal.
"The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf via trade and subsequently extended the former Seahawks receiver with a massive deal worth over $30 million annually. Given the unlikelihood of Pittsburgh allocating even more money at the position - with looming extension talks for T.J. Watt on the horizon - the probability of a Pickens trade is high," Cameron wrote.
Ah, but wait.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini is reporting on Thursday Draft Day that she does not "get that sense'' in regard to the rumors that Pickens could be traded.
But wait again. There's more ...
"Do I think the player may like the idea?'' she added. "Yes ...''
Hmm. That's a wild new twist. The Steelers don't want to move him ... But George wants to move?
Schefter has included Pickens on a list of players who "could be expendable" after the draft. ... and we assume he got that info from the Steelers.
But as it stands, Khan, at least for now, says Pickens is staying in Pittsburgh ... even if he doesn't want to.
