Mos def. I think the team were extremely bitter with the way the previous season ended. The botched KG trade and Marion trade demand didn't help either.

If he is able to successfully integrate Shaq, I will never doubt his coaching abilities again. He has to have some sort of plan to push for the addition of a piece that is contradictory to his offense.

Yes! I'm glad he feels the same way I've been feeling about the team this season. All those people who were getting mad at what Kerr was saying were wrong. A GM can't speak honestly in those kind of situations. He has to make it sound like everything is fine for a whole lot of reasons.

According to Kerr and D'A, the Suns were not going to make a move until an opportunity came up. So if Miami didn't make the call, the Suns would still have the same team.

I don't think the Suns needed an immediate change until the Lakers got Gasol. I could see the Suns with Marion beating every other team in the league in the playoffs. That one though just became very scary.

Right, but there's no way they would have made a move this risky and expensive unless they were convinced that the team was going nowhere.

good issue to bring up..

its good to know everyone is very positive with the team, but sometimes they turn a blind eye to the negatives and focus on the positives.. when its the negatives that holds the team back..

I along with several here were realistic enough to see the problems... despite the record... the conference leadin record..


and it was weird to even read some say 'wait until playoffs' when it came to going against the Laker's new front court... as past playoff records matter... well that meant its true for the Spurs/Suns matchup too?... basically by coming to the conclusion that the Suns will beat the Lakers come playoff time due to previous results... they already gave up when it came to the Spurs... its double standards... for the sake of being positive.... not realistic.

Reports were that the Suns got into the trade talk to fend off Dallas from Miami.

That pecking order comment really explains alot. Marion felt threatened by Amare, pure and simple. He did not want to take a back seat to him in any way. Not new, but this is the GM saying it.

Its not what I wanted to see with the team this year but it's been obvious for a couple of months that was not going to happen - and I'd lost all hope for a successful playoffs with the course D'A was on. From my point of view, this trade can't be a failure because for a while, at least, I won't have to force myself to watch the games. It appears that the players are genuinely excited about the trade so, who knows, it may even make us a legit contender.

The deal can't be a disaster financially as we'll have less payroll for the next two years, without the huge question mark Shawn had become - and Banks' contract was an embarrassment for D'Antoni. Of course, tossing away draft picks with both hands, will almost certainly come back to haunt us - but we knew that was stupid at the time.

With any luck, in the interim phase, DJ may get enough minutes to settle down and earn an small slot in the rotation - because we do need to have another capable perimeter defender that D'Antoni isn't terror stricken to put on the floor. (Banks is a better defender but having him and DJ gave Mike a chance to vacillate between the two - which he had seized upon.)

It will be interesting to see what happens with Banks in Miami - can he thrive once away from D'Antoni. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that Riley was quite interested in getting Marcus in this deal as he puts great value on good defenders.

So how exactly is the proverbial pecking order established now?
It looks the same as before to me with Nash atop followed by two equally important pieces.
