Diamondbacks trade Randolph to Chicago Cubs



PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks today dealt lefthanded pitcher Stephen Randolph to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player-to-be-named. Randolph, 30, went 10-6 with a 4.89 ERA in 95 games over the past two seasons with 119 walks and 112 strikeouts in 141.2 innings of work. He debuted with the Diamondbacks in 2003, going 8-1 with a 4.05 ERA in 50 games. Last season he was 2-5 with a 5.51 ERA spanning 45 appearances (6 starts).

With Randolph gone (blah...he could have been helpful to the team in the pen, moreso than the oh so great PTBNL), Fossum will almost certainly be in the pen to start the year.

Last I heard, they were going to move him in the bullpen to be our long reliever/6th starter.

How many people are on the roster right now after the RJ and Green deals? Im guessing thats why we basically dumped him, for the roster spot.
