Street & Smith and Lindy's 2006 predictions

Street & Smith picks the Diamondbacks to finish in 5th and Lindy's has the Diamondbacks finishing 3rd in the NL West.

I think this team has a chance to surprise a lot of people but the pitching is obviously the key. If the bullpen can perform at all this year the diamondbacks might have a chance to make a run.

It is crazy to pick anyone else than the Rockies to finish last. They are just a horrible team.

Best Case Scenario: 2nd

Worst Case Scenario: 4th.

There's no way this team finishes in the cellar. The Rockies are clearly the cream of the crap so to speak, and have immediate dibs on the cellar occupancy for the upcoming season.

Truthfully, neither San Francisco or LA did a whole hell of a lot to improve this post-season. Perhaps if Nomar Garciaparra reverts back to pre-2004 form, they could make some noise, but otherwise, this looks a whole lot like the squad that stunk up the joint last season. Same can be said of San Francisco and San Diego, although I really like the Young-Gonzalez acquisitions they made.

Point being: this is a wide open division. Even though I'm predicting, in a best case scenario, Arizona finishes second, it wouldn't blow my mind entirely if they snuck up on people and won the Division.

Yeah, I think we may be in for a wild ride this season. They could really surprise us (good). There's no way we will end up below Colorado, NO WAY. Realistically I think it will be the Pads taking the division with us, SF and LA leap frogging for second.

Agreed, and they seem to have no future. Being a Rockies fan must be rough- but at least there are 3 teams are good.

This divison could be had by anyone really other than Colorado. I think we have a shot. Until SF and LA prove that they can stay healthy, I think we could sneak in there and take it.
