Don't check this board very often and don't follow up on hockey, but I am just curious as to how the Coyotes are doing this season? How does their future look? I know they are fairly young. How active is Gretzky within the organization?

Hey Bend,

The Yotes so far this year are 3-6-3 and in the middle of a 9 game winless streak (0-6-3). Obviously that blows. It has been a myriad of things to bring them to a nine game winless streak. Coach Bobby Francis is focusing on basic defensive breakdowns and penalties getting the Yotes back on their paws - so to speak...

Tonights game in Colorado is good example of what has been going on. Play very, very well....take the lead...play tough D... and then just a simple breakdown loses the game. They played well tonight - good enough to win by the way.

This is a team that will be very streaky - IMO - and a team that NO ONE wants to play. They are very agressive on the forecheck, and are much better than last season on special teams. This is a team that can go on a 5, 6, 7 game tear and also go on a o-fer......

This is a very fun and exciting team to watch with absolutely no quit in them. They play a very enjoyable brand of hockey full of desire and passion. They do not sleepwalk through games (are you listnening NY Rangers?).....Opponents will know when they play Phoenix - that is for certain...

In the future, I think things look vey bright for the Yotes. They are building a strong, punishing, and quick team that is young and balanced. This will be a team that grows together - I personally like the direction they are going. Getting into the new arena in Glendale will help tremendously because it will open new revenue streams for the team that they do not have at AWA.

Gretz is taking a more active role this year than last year. I can only think of that as a positive. At the same time the Yotes have some very, very good hockey people in the front office with Mike Barnett, Dave Draper, Cliff Fletcher, etc.

I hope that helps...

BTW, welcome to the Yotes board...:)
