Thought this was interesting. Here is the popup that comes up if you view NFL tickets for the 2011 season....

The NFL lockout isn't settled
The NFL is currently in a labor dispute with its players. If the lockout is not resolved by the start of the season, August 1, here is what you should know.

Due to the NFL lockout, there is no guarantee your favorite players will be in the game. If you buy tickets and the game is played, the tickets are yours to use, regardless of who is playing and if the game is rescheduled. If the game is cancelled, we will refund the cost of the tickets plus service and delivery fees.

Makes me wonder how the NFL will screw the fans wether that be scabs or rescheduling games to future dates to make sure they get the money for the tickets. I want to buy tix for the cards vs skins game week 2 but am really leary given the current situation. This lockout could really affect online ticket agents such as stubhub which is a new spin I havent really heard being talked about.

Can't use scabs in a lockout, only in a strike. If they opened the doors to players, it would have to be to any players. Stubhub is just covering their bums.

True I guess the wording threw me off as them saying your favorite players might not play.

My guess is it is rehashed language from another strike, dumbed down so the ordinary user can understand it.

yep - a simple CYA ... so many things they could get brought into by fans "who didn't know"

for example, it doesn't even have to be a scab player ... right now the number of years vested for FAs is up in the air ... your favorite player may be on a completely different team next year depending on how this works out ... let alone free agency, trades, etc

they can't control any of this - they can't even control the ticketing - they just resell them .... basically that's all they are getting out there - we sell tickets to NFL events - if the event is being played and that ticket is valid, that ticket is yours .... if the event isn't being played and the ticket is invalidated then we will refund .... other than that, not our problem so buyer beware

Simple...don't buy any tickets yet. If/when this get's done then get 'em, trade 'em whatever but until then getting pissed won't do anything but not buying anything (including merch) or renewing will hit home more than saying "I hate these guys" lol

except not buying anything really doesn't hit home either .... it's not like they are dying for that revenue right now and if you come back and buy stuff once it's all settled it's not like they are really losing on that revenue

not to mention most merchandise is already bought and in stock by vendors, so for the large part the league has already made their cut on it (not to mention that with merchandising contracts, etc it's not as simple as t-shirt sold equals x amount of revenue for the league)

Yeah but it does more than just saying "Im mad"
Personally I love football but if they don't settle it I could care less either way. I'll watch more college football. When it's over it will survive because people will come back and watch, period. I know I will. If people don't that's up to them and really only hurting themsleves by "making a stand" I guess if enough people did that it could hurt the business but it won't happen.
Some fans seem to take this labor thing waaaay too personal (not you Migrating and I am agreeing with you in my own demented way lol)

I can agree with that .... part of this was prompted by the 20% off sale at amazon and fans on many of the sites I post on were up in arms about how they were going to stick it to the shield due to the lockout, etc

just didn't seem to make sense to me ... if you take it that personally and care that much then it's highly likely you'll be back when it's settled ... some were even saying as much "they won't see another penny of mine until this is settled"

so basically all they did was hurt themselves by 20% if they neglected to buy something today that they want to buy at some point

i guess I just don't get how some would take it personally .... now if the league was going to fall apart, teams relocation, contraction or some drastic changes - sure then I could get it

right now it just seems like a lot of wasted emotion and energy
