Well,-----here we are. Things couldn't possibly get much slower. I thought I would put something on the board, just to have something new.

The way I see it, this is the perfect off-season that all the so called experts said we needed last year. The lock-out of last year resulted in a new agreement between the owners and the players association. Gone are the huge bidding wars for rookies, and the disproportionate salaries for their non-service. Gone also are the holdouts.

We had a decent, if unspectacular free agent season. We had a better than decent draft. Everyone is signed and on-board early. The playbooks have been distributed and everyone has had more than ample time to digest them.

OTA's seemed to go pretty well, and even Mini-Camp held some nice showings. Injuries from last year seem to be clearing up slowly, but steadily, and the word is that everyone will be in camp.

The schedule for the summer has produced an extra pre-season game in which to hone skills, and even training camp might be just a tad longer than usual. Our season opener isn't scheduled until September 9th.

All these things combine to allow for ALL to make necessary adjustments to new scheme's, people new to the playbook, and personnel new to the roster. In short, there is no excuse this year for not being ready for the season. This applies throughout the league, not just for the Cardinals, but it is especially accommodating to the Cards who were so ill prepared last season.

There should be plenty of time to decide ALL position competitions, (and if they are done fairly), we should have the most solid people starting by opening day, (and they will have had ample snaps with which to perfect their skills).

Now comes the hard part. For us on the board, that is the waiting and wondering and hoping. For the team, that is the long days of contact against each other.

While I am not at all religious, I am spiritual,-----and in that vein, I will be praying that God watches over our Cardinals and helps them through this time of preparation yet to come.

It is not often that this team has been as fortunate during the off-season as the Cards have been this year. Here's hoping that this good fortune continues on into the regular season.

Nice post, Catfish.

Last night I was thinking that it's about time for Larry to start his work-outs in Minnesota. I'm anxious to see who he has with him this year.
