PLAINWELL — The Sturgis tennis team is cruising right along right now.
On Monday evening, the Trojans in orange and black took out the Trojans wearing blue and white in a Wolverine Conference matchup. Sturgis came home with an 8-0 victory on the evening.
All eight matches were won in straight sets for Sturgis.
Cora Phillips won her match at first singles with a 6-1, 6-1 score, Gracie Perry recorded a victory of 6-1, 6-2 at second singles. Also winning were Katherine Steele (6-0, 6-4) at third singles and Mya Eicher (6-2, 6-1) at fourth singles.
Doubles play saw the Trojans yield just 11 games to Plainwell in the four matches.

The top SHS team of Bella Currier and Arianna Terwedo claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory. At second doubles, Sturgis earned a 6-1, 6-1 win with Katelyn Halling and Chloe Clark while Mazie Sterling and Marlee Smith won 6-1, 6-2 at third doubles. Also winning was Lilly Whitehead and Hannah Ritchie at fourth doubles with a 6-0, 6-2 score.

Sturgis played well during the weekend as well, finishing second overall at the Loy Norrix Quad.
"It was a great competitive experience for our team," Sturgis coach Andy Phillips said. "We competed hard and had a lot of good moments we can build upon."
Sturgis claimed a pair of flight championships on the day. Perry was first at second singles, Steele won her flight at third singles. The Trojans racked up 16 points on the day, finishing behind East Lansing's 20 but in front of Loy Norrix (eight) and Kalamazoo Central (four).
The Trojans beat both Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix by 7-1 scores.
Winning against Kalamazoo Central were Perry, Steele, Eicher, Halling/Clark, Currier/Terwedo, Sterling/Smith and Whitehead/Ritchie.
