If the rumor is true that the Knicks offered Amare for CP3, how would you feel if your Amare? The biggest knock on the guy is he underchieves on the boards and dissappears on the defensive end way too often.

If there was one place you could consider "safe" besides the Suns when overlooking those deficiencies you would have thought it would have been the Knicks. Especially with D'Antoni there.

Now that Tyson Chandler is what the Knicks realize they need, does the entire league view Amare as more of a second tier guy now? Is Amare going to feel slighted now and implode?

Amare might feel slighted right now for being a rumored trade piece for Paul, but for 100M, I could overlook it.

Good point . However, if this sort of defines that Amare is not that 100 million dollar guy that brings what you need for a title, he might be trade bait the rest of his career. I don't think even he wants that.

In a worse case scenario he could become a Gugliotta or a Hardaway. I kept thinking in the rumored NO trade for Paul, if I were NY and both players were equal with no question marks, I would rather have Amare over Carmelo. So I think this is telling.

I forget which one it was but one of the NBA Channel talking heads said that the Amare rumor was bogus. According to him, it was never brought up or pursued. The Knicks were always interested in adding Tyson Chandler so he could complement Amare.

Yeah, I've thought for years that Chandler is the perfect compliment for Amare. He'll fit in nicely with the chuckers. (Amare/Melo)

Yeah, he actually is the perfect addition. If Amare can stay healthy (and Tyson increases that likelihood), he can finally just be the player he wants to be. That is, as long as Carmelo lets him have the ball occasionally.

I have been beating that drum for years. When Chandler was not going to return to the Hornets I wanted the Suns to get him. The Knicks should hang on to him because that would be one help of a frount court IMO.

The Suns had the option to trade Ben Wallace for Chandler a few years ago, but didn't do it for financial reasons. Looks like NY might finally be able to do what Sarver failed in six years with Amare: put a quality defensive big next to him.

good lord... that was the off-season right before the year we went to the WCF, right? *******... a lineup of:

Nash
Richardson
Hill
Amare
Chandler

with the bench mob of Dragic, Barbosa, Frye, Dudley and Sweet Lou probably would have been good enough to get over the Lakers that season and win the title... and continued to be contenders for the foreseeable future.

Great call as usual by Sarver.

I don't think he cares. He doesn't carry about anything other than making $$ and he would have done that no matter where he's at, New Orleans or New York.

I'd love to put together a frontcourt that starts with Joakim Noah and Amare. Add Rajon Rondo at the point and fill in the blanks with a couple big league shooter/scorers.

I'm curious as to how long Amare's career will last actually with the knee history and miles on his legs running for D'Antoni all these years.

That's right. As a superstar, Amare is a flake. As a Power Forward, he needs a Center next to him to cover his weak rebounding and defense.

Amare should be very pleased to see the Knicks put a legit Center in the lineup. Now he can play up his strengths and hide his weaknesses.

Without Chandler stopping drive penetration to the basket, no way the Mavs beat Miami or even make it to the finals. I don't see how the Mavs could afford to lose him.

It can't suck to be anyone who is making a hundred million dollars. And gets four months off each year.

The Mavs plan appears to be to borrow Dalenbert for a year and then next summer go hard after Howard if he is still available.

Amare should also be happy to have help in the middle from Chandler. Especially if the Knicks start Chandler at Center, Amare will love that.

this is a huge add for the knicks. at both ends of the floor. I think the knicks watched what dallas did with two 7footers at both ends of the floor and figured they could pick it right up. this will allow amare to play more on the perimeter, but he is not in dirk's league offensively when he is away from the basket. so it will be interesting to watch. but like dirk, chandler will help amare at the defensive end with rebounding and defense. this will be a problem for small teams like miami that won't have an answer at either end of the floor. keeping miami out of the pain on offense is their downfall and the knicks just added to that strenght for their team...and a problem for the heat.

as far as dallas keeping tyson? well it is because they could not afford to outbid the teams that were trying to sign him. chandler is getting paid because dallas won a title. what the mavericks need is another center to put next to dirk that is athletic like him. he isn't the only guy in the league that is like that....so why pay him like a all star when he is not? they already made that mistake(and a worst one at that) by overpaying for brendan haywood the year before. as much as i want him to return I think the mavs made the right decision for their future. if they want to sign a big time FA in the next few years they could not afford to sign him for what others were willing to pay now.

I do agree that chandler is a huge void. barea...beuabouis can slowly fill his void eventually. butler....they won with him on the bench. chandler?? well with odom and hopefully another add at center to put next to haywood through a 1 yr deal.. or trade will be enough. of corse last year it was dallas' quiet moves that flew under the radar. they added chandler in the offseason for nothing and people were raving about james/bosh etc. i like the move to add odom for nothing.

the long term goal would be howard, but that might not be possible given all of the other teams that covet him. for dallas it might just be get what you get with the big names if it is even possible. landing one of the big 3 upcoming FA's would be a dream for them to put next to dirk.
