Suggestion for folks who work in IT

If you're like us due to laptop theft issues in the past we established a policy requiring laptop locks that bolt to worksurfaces with a cable that attaches to the laptop.

One suggestion, if you get the kind with a combination lock, make sure somewhere in your own department you have a record of what the combinations. We're having such a pain in the neck now with layoffs and attrition we have cables locked in cubes all over the place that we don't know the combination to and we have no way of getting off short of bolt cutters.

Yeah, when I worked for IBM, our manager had all our combos and such.

Well, the locks should be purchased by the company and issued by IT so the combi's are kept by the company as well.
Otherwise purchase a good set of bolt cutters.
