I prefer to read true-life stories. Just got done Angela's Ashes and T'is and am looking to start something new. (Still have plenty of beach time before the end of summer.) Can anyone suggest something?

Seriously seriously? No wonder you are full of such useful information.

I am reading "Stolen Lives" by Malika Oufkir right now. It seems to have all the components for a great real life story. I am only about 100 pages into it but am looking forward to finishing. So I don't know if the whole book is good but thus far an interesting look into Moroccan life.

Sounds good. I've wanted to pick that book up before.

I'm reading Rescuing the Bible From Fundamentalism right now and I'm going to start reading Soldiers of God: With Islamic Warriors In Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Just posted a new thread before I read this one about it. I highly recommend it.

The book that the movie "enemy at the gates" was based on is called "War of the Rats" by David Robbins. I started reading it on a plane flight to a business meeting, and the next day I snuck out of a part of the meeting and went back to my hotel room and finished reading it - it was seriously that good.

Read Lance Armstrongs book. It helped me get through my Cancer treatments but I thought it was an amazing story and pretty much anyone would enjoy it.

I was going to put this one as well great book.

I only read true story stuff as well,

The past few books I just read I would recommend, would be

Why America Slept, the failure to prevent 9/11, by Gerald Posner

Jarhead, by I forget??? I just gave the book to someone, It's about a life of a marine Sniper that goes to the Gulf war

And Charles Barkleys book I may be wrong but I doubt it, its a book about Barkleys views on Race, politics etc.

Rebound, the Dennis Rodman story by dennis Rodman, it's a very good book about Rodmans life, this was written before Rodman became all freaky as well

I've been thinking about reading the 9/11 book.

Right now I'm reading Dead Man Walking. Saw Sister Prejean speak at my conference in New Orleans and she was truly amazing. She brings up a lot of good points and questions about the death penalty.

The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule is one of the greatest books I've ever read. Gives you the heebie-jeebies to know that Ted Bundy, such a cold-blooded and vicious person, had a human side to him. Really makes you take a harder look at everyone around you.

Is it Partisan, or is it fair?

Does it mention that Clinton tried to pass a tough anti-terrorism bill that Republicans (partisanship ) shot down?

Does it mention that we trained and equipped the terrorists who attacked us?

Just wondering. I would read it, if I felt it was fair and bipartisan, basically looking at the failings of both parties.

It's a fair outlook, It blames everyone from the CIA, FBI, Dem, REP, etc. It is more of a book that states the facts and leaves the judgement up to you, very informal and a very good read. It really is just a look at all sides of the situation in the past 20 years, I would vote it as a must read.

I looked at the Amazon review for it, and it did sound like it was pretty objective, even though it was linked to books by blowhards like Hanity and Rush (linked by the fact that people who read those books as read Why America Slept).

The fact is: It wasn't one administration, or one instance that led to this attack. No one is to blame for it.
