Just a place to put down little tidbits of Summer League news that has something to do with the Suns. The first bit is from an article that originally was about Baron Davis, but there is a paragraph about Penny:

In the second semi-final game, Penny Hardaway continued the form that made him a favorite of the summer league with a 27-point and 15-assist performance, leading his NBA Pro team to a 136-116 blowout of Global T/W. A year removed from injury, flashes of vintage Hardaway were in abundance for the crowd to enjoy. While moving at a somewhat pedestrian pace, the Phoenix Suns guard displayed his entire repertoire — shooting, passing, posting up, and defense. Perhaps the only thing missing was a dunk, although it was apparent that Hardaway was using these games solely for the purpose of conditioning and timing.

Oh and undrafted Marquis Daniels who plays on the Dallas squad went an impressive 28 times to the freethrow line in their first 2 games.

Koko Archibong who plays for the Suns at RMR had 2 points from the line, 3 rebounds and an assist in 16 minutes on the Lakers squad.

No wonder I couldn't find the link to the box score!

(Blame it on phxsuns.net, not me!)

On NBA TV they said Penny had 32 points earlier today. Also, Bo Outlaw had 35 points.

Not summerleague but junior world championships

Schortsianitis breaks a second backboard….
[10/7/2003]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A second backboard was smashed at the Evosmos Sports Arena, this time by Sofoklis Schortsianitis, who made an impressive slum dunk at the second period of the game between Greece and Puerto Rico, that brought the board down. The gym officials could not believe their … luck, since they had to use the last backboard available, while there were comments that in case the players continue with the same enthusiasm, there will probably be no means of completing the games…

Anyone know anything about LaMarcus Golden? I know that he's Penny's cousin and that he tried out for the Suns in Penny's first year here. How is his game?

Caron Butler didn't exactly do nearly as well as anticipated and surely not like someone who thinks he should have been ROY. I doubt he will be any better than the top 3 rookies next year either. Dwayne Wade is already outplaying him.

Whoa! Bo Outlaw is a killer in the summer league games. He's been putting these numbers up the last 3 years. These guys must be terrible he's playing against.

He's like a Globetrotter out there. Literally--he loves playing with the officials, the fans, you name it.

Too bad I can't catch any of his games. For the guys that have seen Bo play in the summer league games, does he shoot jumpers? I bet his stroke is even on in the summer league games.
