Pia Sundhage was hired Tuesday to coach the U.S. women's soccer team through the 2008 Olympics. Sundhage, a star player for Sweden and recently an assistant with the Chinese national team, replaces Greg Ryan, whose contract was not renewed after the Americans finished third at this year's World Cup.
