So the training camps open today, although the Suns won't hold their first official practice until Saturday night. Friday night there will be a team dinner, and Saturday morning physicals.

Additional camp invitees, as reported by Coro, are Marcus Landry along with rookies Jeremy Hazell and Dwight Buycks.

Once Morris signs and assuming both Dowdell and Siler are fully signed through the upcoming season, the Suns will have 13 players under contract. I read somewhere that the NBA will allow teams to keep 13 players on active rosters (able to play any night) until sometime in February (not sure why the deadline) so that means the Suns won't have to stick anyone in D-League (Siler, Dowdell and Morris are eligible for assignment) or keep anyone in street clothes for the time being.

I'm guessing these are camp bodies although I am not familiar with any of the names. It would be nice if the Suns were bringing in a player that could push someone.

Marcus Landry is Carl Landry's younger brother. That should explain why the Suns brought him in. He went undrafted in 2009 and briefly played with NY and Boston before spending last season in D-League. He's a small forward.

Hazell is a shooting guard who led Seton Hall in scoring. He supposedly signed to play in Spain. Probably the most interesting of the three players, but with Brown already signed there is no more room at wing. Buycks is a point guard out of Marquette. I suppose he could push Dowdell for the final roster spot, but judging from his college numbers I seriously doubt that.

The only roster spots potentially open are 3rd PG (Dowdell) and 3rd center (Siler), but the Suns didn't bring in anyone who could battle those two players for those spots.

What happened to Sean Williams and Gustavo Ayon? I imagine Ayon didn't wait for the lockout to end and inked a deal with a Euro club. But Sean Williams? The dude has talent and had shown the ability to keep himself in check while playing D-league ball for the Texas Legends. He's worth a look-see.

Looks like Morris, Telfair and Hill won't be able to sign and thus practice until Carter clears waivers Sunday. Brown practiced with the team Saturday.

Dowdell is out with knee pain. If this lingers, that will leave Telfair as our backup point guard by default.

I have always wanted the team I rooted for to have three legitimate Point Guards and three legitimate Centers on the roster. This is one of the reasons why, in addition to foul trouble, fatigue and matchups.

If Dowdell's injury turns out to be serious I would like the Suns to add another PG. Let's hope it is a minor thing.
