If the Suns maintain their status quo (I'm not referring to only the Jimmy Butler trade rumor) I'm going to be extremely disappointed.

The Suns problems are much bigger than the return of a star player.

I don’t think Gerald has any meaningful sources in the franchise. Gambo is far more connected

Where did he confirm that Miami wants our trash?
He did not. He confirmed that from Butler's side of the house the Suns are high on his list. He was struggling a bit to determine why Miami might want to take this deal other than the fact they may get nothing from Butler next season and might want something in return. I would think the other teams on Butler's list can offer more then the Suns. The only way I see this happening is if Butler says "I am only going to the Suns".

I don't think anyone has said Miami wants Beal. Actually, Gambo said the opposite in 2023.

IMO, the Suns would have to add assets like a first round pick or get another team involved to make it happen.

That's why I don't think this happens. Gambo just said that 2031 pick is not going to get traded for an asset that won't be here when it comes up. It appears this would be highly dependent on a 3rd team getting involved.

I agree, unless it's Flex. :)

My bookmarks in priority are Shams, Gambo and Gerald.

By the way, Gambo is also under the belief that the Suns want to see another run with the Big 3 before evaluating any trade. So, sounds like any move would be towards the end of the trade deadline anyway. Not sure if that is what he is being told or what he believes.

There is something that gave this trade rumor some legs. Unfortunately, we don't know all the details.

Even if the Suns string a bunch of wins together, we know there is a problem with the interior defense. It's not going away. The Big 3 doesn't solve this issue.

Maybe the Suns want to see who becomes available in trade before making a decision.

I'm afraid I might know and it doesn't involve Beal. I don't want to say it and put that negativity into the universe but pretty easy to read between the lines since I've theorized Beal and KD for Butler openly.

I'd be vehemently against that other route without a bounty of draft picks coming with Butler. A Nets sized bundle of picks.

I am with you on that but evidently that is not what the Suns think.

At this point in time, I'm willing to consider all the trade options, including any one of the Big 3.

I think the Suns opened this can of worms when they traded for Durant and then followed it up with the trade for Beal.

If the Suns front office doesn't realize the problem, they better hire another GM in a hurry.

Personally, I think they are trying to downplay the urgency.

To be fair, their record was good before the injuries. They may want to legitimately gauge whether a small trade verses a bigger trade is needed. Not that I agree.

You really expect Ishbia to admit that the KD trade was a failure by trading KD?

I think they would be willing to admit that Beal isn't a great fit here more than hey, we gave up a ton for KD and it isn't just going to work out after 1.5 years so see you KD.

Wishful thinking.

Ishbia is in denial.
No doubt Ishbia is in denial if he wants one more run of this “Big 3”… but so are you if you think the Heat would actually want Beal, with his injuries and odious contract for Butler.

If we’re getting Butler for Beal, you can be your ass we’re throwing in even more future first round picks. And for what? To win a couple more games in the regular and not get swept in the playoffs, but still be a first round spoiler at best?

Pass. We screwed the pooch with the KD trade. Continuing to throw first round picks at the problem, with guys in their mid-30s no less, is the definition of insanity.

The Suns record was previously good, but their weakness remains and is exposed. Reeling off another winning streak doesn't change things.

I'm not opposed to a smaller trade, so long as the Suns fix their interior defense.

We are in agreement but it appears the Suns are not convinced which is scary in itself if true.

Miami has future picks sent out so they’re kinda limited when it comes to sending out a bounty. KD/Bam would be nice though.

Denial can disappear quickly when you’re dropping record luxury tax bills for first rd fodder. Life comes at you fast as they say.
Ishbia is a shrewd business man. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy that wastes money on "fodder". That's why I think the team legitimately thinks they still have a shot and want to tread lightly until they think they don't. If Ishbia didn't believe it? I have no doubt he would be making moves.
