At the beginning of the season I think most of us were disappointed when Marion said driving to the basket wasn't "his game". And he continued to do nothing but stand out on the 3 point line. It's a no brainer to most of us that teams win by driving to the basket. Either he had a change of heart or the coach finally got through to him. Check out these very interesting stats.

Over the past 7 games Marion has averaged about 6 free throw attempts VS. 3.5 for the season.

What's even more impressive is that the team has a winning record at 4-3 over those 7 games. Lets hope that Marion has seen the light.

I'm sure the coaching staff has been pushing him to go the basket more. But the other thing is that he is getting the ball closer to the basket which helps. When he would try to drive starting from beyond the arc it would give opposing big men time to get in the way. If he gets the ball inside the foul line, he can got to rack.

I think he is responding to better recognition of the double teams by both Amare and JJ. The Suns had 24 assists against the Hornets.

Lately Shawn has been shooting better which reflects his more agressive approach but also his outside shooting is getting better.

I honestly believe that his shooting woes were at least partly a result of Shawn bulking up last summer. It seemed to throw off his mechanics and for much of the season his three point shooting was well under 30%. It is now up to 32.6% after becoming more selective but also getting opponents to back off by threatening to drive the basket.

I see no reason why Shawn can't get back to his 2002-03 stats of 45.2% from the field and 38.7% for three. But getting to the line is what would keep him above 20 ppg.

When Shawn playes efficiant like he "used" to, he was very valuable... I hope he returnes to that sort of style for good...
