I was the only Suns fan at that game. I had 3rd row tickets and people kept telling me to shut up. :)

Antonio McDyess had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix and caused the fourth of New Orleans' five fourth-quarter turnovers when he slapped Wesley's pass away from Magloire with just over two minutes left.

I'm starting to think it might not be a bad idea to keep McDyess this summer!

I am having mixed feelings. I'm afraid he is going to play so well the Suns can't afford him. :notworthy

Seriously, I know everyone has been convinced that Dice is just too small to play center. But Magloire is listed at 6'11" 259 and was on the All-Star team; after a bad start (three quick fouls) Dice played him very well and produced 5 steals to go with his 11 points. Magloire got most of his points early, but after some adjustments the Suns kept him under control. If he can hold his own against Magloire, there is no reason why Dice couldn't be the Suns starting center until Lampe is ready to take over.

Dice's shooting was very impressive against the Hornets including jump shots and put backs. If he has a few more games like that, he is going to start causing defensive problems for opponents trying to double team the Suns' Big Three.

If nothing else, signing Dice could signify the end to "small ball".

Antonio McDyess has been playing well. He is definitely an upgrade over Jake Voskuhl, but forgive me if I don't get too excited just yet. I mean the Suns have played well since he has been seeing significant time. Look at those games have been against though.

The Milwaukee Bucks are a notoriously soft, struggling Eastern Conference team.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their All-Star center for the entire second half of the game.

The Philadelphia 76ers did not have Allen Iverson penetrating and creating. Of course infanticide should note that they have better winning percentage this year without him.

New Orleans was missing their two best players, both all-stars.

If they can re-sign Antonio McDyess cheaply to a short-term deal I'm all for it. If he continues to play like this for for the next nine games he's going to get offered more from other teams.

But the question is, does dice take that extra money and bolt from phoenix AGAIN? It wouldnt shock me, but hey, it would be nice if he didnt. I love the Dice, Lampe rotation at center.

Sure its probably not the greatest defensive rotation but they can SCORE and are about average on defense. We havent had a center with any offensive capability since...since....uhm....err....

If I were JC, I'd offer Dice a one year deal with a promise that if he stays healthy to give him their mid cap in 2005.

Why does he accept that? Right now Dice will have a hard time getting a long term contract worth very much. He's coming off a very serious injury and relapses are hardly uncommon. But if he waits and has a strong year, his market value would be much higher.

What would it take to keep him? If the Suns move White, I'm guessing the Suns could give Dice a $2 million one year and still have enough money to do what is needed in the FA market.

If the Suns are serious about Kobe (even Eddie Johnson is on the bandwaggon  ), then Dice might be willing to go for the veteran minimum if it meant being on a championship contending team. If the Kobe deal falls through, the Suns could be competative with Dice on a one year deal and still get some shooting help.

I think Dice looks pretty good on defense for a guy who has barely played in the last two years and is not in great condition. By next season, I think he could be adequate against all but the most physical centers.

In the long run, Lampe will need to become strong enough to play against power centers for the Suns to become a top team. But I can image a rotation two years from now with Amare, Lampe, and Dice getting most of the inside minutes and scoring a ton of points.
