We're missing our starting and backup Centers, our starting Power Forward (who is really a Small Forward) and our starting Point Guard, who is still getting accustomed to the NBA.

With Booker himself not fully back in playing shape following injuries and, of course, weary from covering two positions. That affects 4 of the 5 positions on the court. 'Can't win that way!

I expect I'm going to be criticized by a few for bringing this up, but is the Suns incidence of injuries normal for an NBA team? Or is it a direct correlation of playing our Forwards and Guards out of position. And our Centers 23 feet from the basket to set picks, then scrambling toward the basket to try to be in position to score?

I watched Acy, a brick sh**house at 6'7", playing Center and having to do the same thing. 'Sort of makes it obvious that our Centers should not have to race to the basket as the clock wears down to be in a position to score. And, by doing so, they're putting more stress on their bodies. Anyone can set a pick on the perimeter. It doesn't have to be the Center.

So, yes, I've answered my own question. The Suns ignorant game plan of stationing Ayton, Holmes, Bender or Acy (whoever is the "5" man on the court) at the 3-point stripe is causing injuries. As is playing Warren at the "4" and Booker at the "1"/"2".

It is not a coincidence. It is not something that has "happened" to the Suns (as in bad luck). It is the consequence of ignorant management.

"Ignorant" does not mean stupid. "Ignorant of" is defined as "unaware of". Suns management may or may not be stupid or inexperienced or low paid or egotistical or meek.

They appear to be ignorant of what it takes for a team to face the grind of an NBA season, especially one which has been trying to get out of last place.

And we, the fans, are watching the consequences. If a restaurant ran its wait-staff this way, they'd be out of business. Think about it!

I do not think the Suns injuries are due to players playing non-traditional positions. The NBA is going towards players playing multiple positions.

If you disagree with some of Igor's coaching strategies such as playing Ayton too far away from the basket, I have questioned this as well.

I will also say the Suns need some more beef upfront to contend with stronger players. This may be minimized when the Suns younger players mature. However, it would have been good if the Suns had added a player like Montrezl Harrell in free agency.

Lebron will miss the Suns game.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- LeBron James made incremental progress Saturday, participating in contact drills for the first time since suffering a groin strain more than a month ago, but he has been ruled out of the Los Angeles Lakers' game against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

"He was a full participant in that, so it was good to see," Lakers coach Luke Walton said of James' involvement in full-contact defensive drills. "He looked good. He's still really good at basketball, in case you guys were wondering."

The Lakers will be missing Lonzo Ball, LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma and possibly Josh Hart for this one as well.

Best player on the court today will be Booker but this is more or less going to look like a match up of two JV teams.

Probably one of our best chances to get a road win however.

Why do I think the Suns will be on the short end today.

Well, I think we've shown we can lose to anyone no matter how shorthanded they may be. Still, even missing 4 of our first 6 players, I'd give us the edge in this one.

I truly believe there are at least 3-4 college basketball teams that can beat this current Suns and Lakers team with all the injuries and missing players.

Neh, even the bench warmers in the NBA are better than college kids. The same problem that plagues the Suns (youth) would be a strength against any college team. I'd imagine that some of the best Eur League teams could squeeze a win if things went their way, but that's about it.

Agreed. I always wonder why anyone would ever make such a claim. It's absurd on the face of it and it can never be proved. And really, even if a pro team vs college team game could be arranged, who cares? We already know we suck, would beating Duke change anything? We'd still suck even after we blew them out (which we would as would the hobbled Lakers).

I don't think there's any doubt that we could lose to a good Euro league team. I think the Duke team (and others) from the 90's would have a better chance than Duke of today because they'd have a lot of 3rd and 4th year players and a group that has played together for a few years. But today's big named college teams have the same problem we do, a lot of talent (less than us) but equally short on continuity and maturity.

I'm glad the Suns are recalling Evans to give him another look with the big club.

Just the physicality of NBA players versus college guys. We have all seen the rookies we have needing to put on muscle to be effective.

In addition to being without Kuzma, the Lakers will also be without Lebron James and Tyson Chandler.

Ayton is out again and TJ will be out for a few more games. Melton is out till after the all star break. We get Holmes back tonight but who knows how rusty he'll be after being gone for awhile. Lakers are missing much better players than we are but they are both better and deeper than we are so it's anyone's game IMO.
