They have Ellis a better version of LB, why would they want LB?

That might be a good trade.

First off didn't the Suns have Jackson already ;)

Suns already have Hill, Barnes and Richardson as wings. Trade this teams for now backup point guard, for another wing, That would be a dumb trade. Suns traded all there trade pieces away already, unless they pull off a major trade like Amre for Dirk.

Hmm, I would say it's a very interesting suggestion.

Stephen Jackson is listed as swingman, 6-8, 215lbs, physically perfect for NBA SF. But he played mostly SG in 3 seasons in GSW. He does play some point under Nelson, actually, a lot PG duty this season due to the absence of Monta Ellis. He is definitely better than Barbosa in playmaking, and, more important for us, he is a very very good defender.

Since he is unhappy in GSW, and Barbosa is the type of player Nelson might like, it looks quite possible. The salary is also a close match, 7.1M vs 6.1M.

The problem is his contract has 5 years left, reach 10M salary in 2012/13. So we can not take him as short time backup role. Can we use him as backup PG/SG for now, then move him to starting SF next year? Hill is going to retire or at least reduce role.

Regardless of his play, I don't think the Suns are willing to even consider him because of his antics.

I guess these r all just rumors, nothing real.

We have done a big deal not long ago. The team performed quite well after then, beat Orlando and Denver, both r top teams. The loss to San Antonio might be painful, but it's a well fought game. We'd better stick with this group for a while to see how the chemistry develops.

Trade deadline is Feb.19, plenty of time left.

Doesn't make much sense from a financial point, would add another wing player who doesn't shoot that well when we desperately need inside help and a backup PG... my guess is Kerr would do it in a heartbeat.

Interesting thought but don't we have Barnes and Hill? He can handle the ball but more like a Point Forward. He is not a true PG. Could he really play backup PG???

The question is, do we REALLY need a true PG anymore??

Probably not, Steve Nash is wasted on the team, he can't get into the system and turns it over a lot and can't play decent defense in the halfcourt.

We have the best interior combination in the league with Shaq and Amare so its obvious why we shouldn't be running and gunning all the time.
We need a PG who plays good defense ( not Barbosa), brings the ball up and makes safe passes and smart plays (not Barbosa), he would have to be a good shooter or penetrator to score his share of points.

Rajon Rondo, Devin Harris these kind of players would be good fits for us now, likely better than Nash.
If it wasn't for his 2 MVPs and such I wouldn't mind trading Nash at this point.

And to think, the Suns were interested in Rondo.

It's an old story, but for anyone who doesn't know, D'antoni told management not to draft Rondo because he wouldn't play him. "We're not in the business of developing rookies."

Rondo is absolutely 100% the perfect fit for this roster. It's a shame.

Not even comparible. Joe Johnson is on another level. I am talking from a PG distribution, run this system perspective. He doesn't fit the bill.

JRich can handle the rock better then SJ IMO and I wouldn't want him as our backup PG either.

kind of makes you think about it, if we need nash, just by watching tonights game against the thunder.

although, the thunder are at the bottom of the league.

Are you kidding??

Joe Johnson and Stephen Jackson are on about the same level. Both are very good distributors.. Thats why they average 6apg.

JRich handling better than SJ?? You CLEARLY have not seen a Golden State game the past 5 years. Richardson is a great finisher, shooter, and can create his own shot.. But he is NOT by any means a better distributor than Jackson.

Jackson seems to kick our asses every time he plays against us too.
