Okay guys, I need the help of any of you that just love and bleed the Suns and want to help build a great Wiki site for them.

It's the offseason, things are slow, so you could really sink yourself into this to help us all out. A Wiki site is done by lots of users contributing content and information.

The Suns portion of the site has gotten started. You can read a bit about the current season, and I have some links to player pages which I've done nothing on.

But take a look at this past seasons page, add content to it, and start working on the previous years.

You can post on this thread to ask question or offer ideas.

Things I want to see:

-Seasonal pages
-Player pages (maybe only the most popular ones, and we'll work down to various other players)
-Opponent pages - Would be nice to have links to say the Spurs, and talk about how they affected the Suns over the years...same with other teams.

Remember, anywhere you write a name or team name, you can link it to the corresponding page.

Mike

There should be a page called 'Bad Luck' with all of the items from Muggum's recent thread. Many items would, in turn, have their own page. Maybe I'll do this when I'm bored later, but I have to go into posting hibernation for a week or two so that I can pay my rent :)

Seriously? :)

The links at the top of the forum...ASFN Wiki :)

Ahh. Thanks. I always wondered what that was. I'm not the adventurous type. ;)

I'll volunteer, I guess. I might be able to get guys like Norm Frauenheim and Mike Tulumello to do some fact checking on the Suns stuff if you're interested.

I could probably fill in a lot of the blanks on ASU football and basketball. I know I can get some guys to help me on that.

I've met them in the past when I was sports writing at Rivals, etc...that would be great.

Suggestion: For the 'Suns Yearly History' section ( http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/wiki/index.php/Suns_Yearly_History ), you could copy this content - http://www.nba.com/suns/history/history_index.html

Is that allowed? Seems like a good place to start. Once you have that basic text, I know I would like to add a memory or two to beef up that content.

It's allowed as long as on the bottom of the page you link to the original source and cite it on the page.

That's allowed on the forums...but I dunno about the Wiki site.

I'd much rather have someone take that history and just re-word it and post it on ours...instead of a copy/paste.

I'm just not sure.

I added in a new page for the 2007-08 season and some info about the draft in the preseason section.

If any of you have stuff to add about Tucket and Strawberry ,or more about your thoughts on the draft, go for it. Trying to keep it updated as we go along.

I've always been confused by local "wiki" sites. If the topic of information is something with far-reaching interest like the Phoenix Suns, why not put your effort into updating the pages on the real Wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_suns Experts from the general public can submit content for that site also.

Contributors to the arizonasportsfans wiki site might end up spending a lot of effort to replicate content that already exists on Wikipedia. Content here might be viewed by a few hundred people. On Wikipedia, it would benefit thousands more worldwide.

*shrugs*

Our site can also reach more than a hundred people, you obviously have no clue as to our traffic numbers.

Still...you might be right, who knows. I felt we could do more of a Fan's perspective Wiki site, not just straight information...

But since it's been a real PITA to get anyone to do anything to it...it may not last long.
