Joe Jackson Finalizing Free Agent Deal With Suns

Joe Jackson, an undrafted point guard out of the University of Memphis, is finalizing a free-agent contract with the Phoenix Suns, a league source told RealGM.

Jackson, 22, averaged 14.1 points, 4.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds in his senior year a season ago.

Despite going unselected in the June NBA draft, Jackson received interest as a second-round pick and then accepted an invitation to the Memphis Grizzlies’ summer league entry. The swift, 6-foot product averaged 5.5 points on 46.2 percent shooting in four summer league games.

Thank god, the Suns addressed the lack of depth at the PG position sooner than later. Especially if Bledsoe doesn't return, cause then we would have been stuck with just 3 PGs (Dragic, Thomas, Ennis) or just 4 if you count Goodwin as a PG.

Based on this I think it's a fair assumption that Ennis will be traded either when the season starts or just before pre-season. Not sure of the date he signed but isn't it 30 days from then until he can be traded? Dragic and Thomas are the only 2 PG's I think will be here all season for sure. Even if we unload Bledsoe somehow I don't see us getting a PG in return, although who knows at the rate we're stockpiling them when it seems PG is probably the deepest position in the league making the assets we have less valuable.

Camp body?

Right, I'd be amazed if any part of the contract is guaranteed. Maybe the Suns want both scrimmage teams to have double-PG sets, so they need four, and were expecting one of them to be Bledsoe.

On another thread I mentioned in regard to Jackson:

My thoughts were along the line are the Suns preparing for the possibility of trading Bledsoe or even Ennis.

I don't believe the Suns are collecting PGs for nothing.

Considering Bledsoe isn't signed, Thomas had surgery recently and Dragic is going to be tired going into training camp, I don't think this should ring any alarm bells yet.

Ennis has like 0 trade value right now.

I could see Toronto trading for him: he's worth more playing minor minutes there than anywhere else, and I'd bet they would have taken Ennis at #20 over Bruno. Of course, lost of players maybe should have been taken over Bruno at #20...
