I didn't realize there was another Pressey generation in the NBA. I don't know anything about Phil but Paul always seemed to be a thorn in our side when we played the Bucks.

I wasn't sure if they were related but if Phil can pass, he is good in my book.

He's gotten 45 assists in 170 minutes scattered over 13 games so he appears to be quite a good playmaker and passer (9.5/36). Assist/TO = 2.4, which puts him ahead of all of our PGs and pretenders for that stat - I like him already.

Reading up on him, his wikipedia states he was really familiar with the Celtics prior to them signing him as an undrafted rookie. He played in their summer league in 2013 and signed right after. So there is most likely a McD connection since he was their Asst GM & Scout before signing here in the same offseason.

Looking at stats he appears to be a poor shooter but a solid passer. He's averaged 3 points, 2 shots, and 3 assists per game. That alone points towards him being a pass first PG. Since he's relatively young maybe there is a chance he pans out. Being undrafted he's managed to stay in the league up until getting cut by Philly in December this season. That's encouraging based on him being a 6' PG. To be able to stay in the NBA for the last 3 seasons without a guaranteed deal and not being 6'10+ shows that he has some talent, in my opinion.

Here's a link to his stats on Basketball Reference.

Just got an alert that we claimed someone named John Jenkins off of waivers from the Mavs. 6'4" shooting guard who previously played for Atlanta also. Have no idea what this is about--maybe they're going to sit Knight for the rest of the season?

I expect they will. They're tanking, no question about it. I'm iffy on Knight but he definitely is the kind of guy who can get hot and win you a game once every couple weeks.

If we claimed him off waivers that means he's on our roster for the rest of the year - though Philly or the Lakers could snatch him away until 72 hours after Dallas waived him.

Of course, it may be that we waited for the 72 hours to pass so he 'cleared' waivers and we would have negotiated any kind of contract with him we wanted with Dallas on the hook for most of his salary if its significant.

We're going to sit you then trade you - welcome to the Suns family

It appears the Suns were high in the waiver claim order to get Jenkins. Needless to say, the Suns must like him but the next two seasons are not guaranteed. Here is more from a Paul Coro article at azcentral at the link below.

McDonough received an unsolicited call of recommendation from Dallas coach Rick Carlisle on behalf of Jenkins, whose character and work ethic were hailed.

Jenkins is on a three-year contract for slightly above the veteran minimum but the next two seasons' salaries of $1.05 million and $1.18 million are not guaranteed until mid-July. The Suns picked up a prorated portion of his $982,348 salary for this season and used a trade exception from the Markieff Morris trade to take on his salary because the team is over the salary cap. With the third-worst record in the NBA, the Suns were high in the waiver claim order to grab him.

I also hope the Suns are able to keep Phil Pressey. I thought the Suns received an injury exception for Bledsoe. Mostly I view these players much like second round picks whom the Suns can put into NBA games to see how they handle it.

He hasn't played great but he's been pretty good for a 10 day contract type of player. I'd like to see Phoenix keep him through the end of the season. I could easily see him filling in Ronnie Price's role once the backcourt was healthy, as sort of a 5th guard/2nd or 3rd string PG. He's young so he may get better while Price is what he is and shouldn't be in Phoenix next year.

Buying out Humphries opened up a roster spot for him and like you, I hope they keep him around the rest of the year so he can duel with Price for a backup spot. I hope they give Jenkins some decent stretches of work, too, starting soon... this team could get it together and go on a small tear. This upcoming road trip against middling EC teams is what could ignite it.

I don't see it. Last night was a fluke. We were playing a very tired and depleted team that took us for granted. And if Tucker hadn't had one of his rare nights when he decided to look like an NBA player it still would have been a loss. His track record suggests he'll return to playing occasional defense and zero offense. That means we'll be outmatched by every opponent at the 1, the 2, the 3, the 4 and usually the 5 (Len might occasionally win that battle). I'm pretty sure we'll lose the coaching battle too and I don't even want to think about the bench versus bench matchup. But we'll see.

If all the teams were as good as the Griz then I wouldn't be concerned but they're all a notch below that and they are likely to take us lightly on their own floors, too - after all we are the laughing stock of the league and one fluke win at home won't change that. I know you're fond of saying that we have a significant talent gap compared to the second worst team in the league but I don't think its true. I would agree we have played that badly since Bled went down but I think its our mental state that has made that happen. Throughout this losing streak we have played some pretty good games but we always did it against a much better team so we still lost. We saved our really crap game for teams we might have beaten playing close to our best - that is a loser's mentality in action.

Not to be picky but I'm really not fond of saying it.:) I actually hate to say it, I just believe it's true.

I LOL'd at this pretty hard because it's actually true.

The Raptors are going to waive Anthony Bennett. Worst #1 pick ever, but would he be someone we would try to pick up? Especially since we just waived Kris Humphries?

Maybe, I don't think it will matter though, he is terrible, even in that crummy draft he still was taken like 10+ picks higher than many of his projections. IMO the Cavs are one of the most inept organizations in the league, worse than us. The only thing they have going for them is LeBron's guilt.
