The Suns continued their free-spending ways on Wednesday, signing restricted free-agent guard Quentin Richardson to an offer sheet believed to be worth nearly $50 million over six years, according to ESPN's David Aldridge. The Clippers will have 15 days to match the Suns' offer for Richardson—who set career highs in scoring (17.2), rebounds (6.4), and assists last season (2.1)—after the negotiating period of free agency ends on July 14. Their willingness to do so will be directly impacted by the decision of Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who plays the same position as Q and would command $100 million over six years.

At first glance, this appears to be a curious move by the Suns, who already have a backcourt set in point guard Steve Nash and shooting guard Joe Johnson. However, there are rumblings around the league that Phoenix is dangling small forward Shawn Marion and/or Joe Johnson in trade efforts to acquire a legitimate center. If Marion is moved, Johnson could slide to the three spot, with Richardson joining Nash in the backcourt. In any case, the Suns have an impressive offensive nucleus that also includes power forward Amare Stoudemire, and fantasy owners should keep them on their radar screen for drafts this fall.
