SUNS SET TO SIGN NASH, RICHARDSON...(Today's press conference to be
broadcast live on www.suns.com at 12:30 p.m., Arizona time) The NBA's
free-agent signing moratorium has officially been lifted. With the arrival
of 12:01 a.m. on the east coast, the Suns are now free to begin signing
free-agents and are expected to ink two talented wing players in the coming
hours. Although club officials have been unable to comment during the
moratorium (per NBA rules), the Suns agreed to terms with veteran point
guard Steve Nash the evening of July 1, the first day of the free-agent
negotiation period. Clippers swingman Quentin Richardson has also agreed to
an offer sheet with the Suns. As a restricted free agent, however, the
Clippers now have 14 days to match the offer, should they choose. Nash,
originally drafted by Phoenix with the 15th overall pick in the 1996 NBA
Draft, returns to the Valley after blossoming into one of the top playmakers
in the league the past five seasons in Dallas. The two-time All-Star's
veteran experience should prove invaluable to the Suns, last season's
youngest NBA team. Richardson is coming off his best season as a pro after
recording career highs in points, rebounds and assists in his fourth season,
all with the Clippers after being drafted with the 18th overall pick in the
2000 draft. "Q's" versatility and quickness would fit right into the Suns'
athletic roster. The Suns will re-introduce Nash during a press conference
TODAY, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. local time (3:30 p.m. ET). Suns.com will
broadcast the press conference in its entirety online. Be sure to log on to
the team's official web site to catch it live. In the meantime, log on to
Suns.com for in-depth coverage of the Suns' signings. Plus, be sure to
