The Suns were trying to make another move at the deadline. They were trying to get at PF in Paul Millsap from Utah. No details yet but it appears the Suns were negotiating and couldn't get it done.

That sucks. That could have been a huge addition IMO. One that could of given us a boost for the playoffs.

They probably wanted our pick unprotected. Millsap / Gortat frontline would really be a strong rebounding lineup.

I would have gave up our 1st rd pick unprotected.

Milsap is far better than any rookie coming in the 2011 draft.

Even if that is true I would have done that trade in a heartbeat. It would have been a no brainer because best case scenario we significantly improve the team. Worst case scenario it's a push because Millsap is better around the rim then Lopez ever will be anyway.

Agreed. I'd happily hand over our unprotected pick for Milsap.

My guess, and this is just a guess, was that Utah was hedging a bit and never made a clear-cut decision one way or the other.

I am with you Chap. Something tells me it's Utah that possibly didn't want to part with him.

Some of you guys crack me up. You're always pissed that the Suns don't make trades, but then when they do get someone, you say they gave up too much.

People calm down. U act like we gave up something huge. Fact is Dragic sucked this year and the pick is lottery protected, meaning it will be somewhere near Orlando's pick anyway or we get it. Bottomline, Brooks is a much better option at point than Dragic this year. Our second unit has sucked primarily because Dragic was struggling running the offense. Brooks>Dragic. Wait til his first game action before crying "Oh woe is me, we gave up that stud of a player in Goran Dragic for Brooks the hack". This is a good thing, not a bad thing. Sheesh.

Heavens to Betsy, not me E.

Now can we delete this thread. It makes me sad :(

Dude you are so wrong, not even for the first game of the season and not for long term future which is what we need to look at.

No more quick fixes please. Thank god we didn't make another failure of a trade for a mediocre player to keep us mediocre.

Millsap may be undersized for a PF but he is anything but mediocre.

And we all know you'd rather the team have 12 draft picks, so your point is noted.

No we just managed to keep a less then mediocre player in Lopez. Thank goodness it fell through or we might have ruined our reputation for having a long line of stiffs that the Center position on our roster.

Ok tell me one PF that has a chance to be better than Milsap in the draft. Maybe Sullinger but that's about it and even he has already said that he's likely staying in school. Even if he did declare, he's a top 5 pick and we won't get that.

I hope the Suns, Jazz and the Bulls revisit this trade after the season. Milsap could be great for our future.

Sullinger, Williams, Jones, Henson, Thompson to just name a few.

Millsap is not a special player and he is way undersized. We need someone who can play in the post.

If you are going to complain , complain about giving up that first round pick for Aaron Brooks instead of Anthony Randolph.

Weren't you arguing with me that Randolph was trash while I was pushing for the Suns to trade for him? I can't remember exactly, since most everyone disagreed with me. Calling me crazy for saying that the Suns should give up THEIR pick for Randolph.

You're not going to get anything better than Randolph at 12,13,14. And he's proving it over the last few games. It's always been the same story with Randolph. For some reason he seems to find himself in the doghouse. But when he plays, he plays VERY well. So he's worth the risk IMO.

31/11 and 24/15 in the last two games. Yeah, Randolph really sucks.

The Suns should have given up both of their first round picks for these two players.

Anthony Randolph? Who says Anthony Randolph was ever a legit scenario?

If he'd be a Rockets fan he indeed should complain... They lost great backup PG for lately inconsistent Dragic and crappy Orlando first round pick only!
