1. Chicago made it simply because of the bad weather for the NFC game in Chicago. Now that they will play on a good field in good weather, they become an average team.

2. I think both Seattle and NO would have given Indy a tough time. Unless Chicago gets a bunch of turnovers, this game will be one-sided.

3. I'm finding it difficult to get excited about either team. My guess is Indy dominates boringly to a 24-10 win.

Unless the Colt D comes back to earth and Bears are able to run up and down the field at will...the Colts will win.

Isn't Grossman due for a 3/4 INT day?

I don't bet on games, so this is more based on 3 things:

1) Rooting for Dungy
2) Rooting for Manning
3) Grossman

I agree especially on the third. Indy versus New Orleans would've been a way better game.

The Bears will somehow find a way to win because my football prayers are never answered.

I agree with Skorp on this one. I'm thinking we'll see a somewhat boring game. Chicago doesn't give up the big play, Manning knows that and will dink and dunk his way down to field goals and an occasional touchdown.

Grossman on the other hand will fling at least 6 balls downfield possible connecting with one of them (at which time the broadcasters will proclaim he's having a great day).

And then there is the half-time show, what a waste of everybody's time.

I agree Skorp Thomas Jones makes likeing the Bears and the Mannining family pulling what they did in the draft makes it a who cares who wins SB. I was hoping for a NO and SD superbowl.

This always cracks me up, the 'Manning Family'...what did Peyton have to do with Eli going to NY? Why hate Peyton because of his brother or father?
I like Peyton alot and think the Bears D is way overrated. Grossman cracks under pressure and the Colts D has been playing very well in the Play-offs. I don't care how boring it is as long as the stupid Bears fans are all tucking tail and runnng just like they did before the 4th quarter against the Cards this year, buncha punk loser fans.

Chicago won that game because everyone seemed to forget that New Orleans doesn't have a defense, and neither does Seattle. Neither of those teams would have stood a chance against the Colts.

For what it's worth, I think that the Bears are going to run on the Colts, Manning and Dungy are going to go into a post-season choke-hold so bad that the officials won't even be able to unclench their hands from their own throats, and Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson combine for 215 yards and 2 TDs.

Bears - 28
Colts - 21

Super Bowl MVP: Thomas Jones

Chicago is capable of putting pressure on Manning with the front four, leaving their athletic linebackers in coverage. That gives manning fits. This is the key. If the Colts win, I don't think it'll be "The Colts" beating the Bears, it'll be Manning beating the Bears.

Other than manning and the passing game (which, granted, is spectacular), the Bears have the Colts outclassed in every other aspect.

What's so different about this Colts team from last year? Not much. It's basically the same. The same tea that lost AT HOME to a Steelers team that is very similar to Chicago. I think it's this type of team that gives the Colts fits.

Colts win.

Bears hang in for a bit, leaving the field at half time behind, but with everyone saying they can win if ... third quarter Manning makes a few tosses, and it's a three score lead for the Colts.

Fourth quarter Bears try to make a comeback, resulting in an interception. Game commentary for the fourth quarter is how the announcers always knew Peyton would get his ring.

That's very specific!

i love watching peyton manning play. he one of the greatess qb to play the game. for kids who have deadbeat parents, he is guy they can look up to. Manning is someone who these kids can look up to and learn how to work hard and how to prepare themselves for whatever task comes their way. peyton is one of the good guys in the league and it a blessing to have someone like him.

this is going to be a better game than what people think it is going to be. urlacher in the key to this whole game. if he can take away those mediate routes the colts like the run then anderson and the rest of that defensive line is going to have a field day on manning. i really don't care who wins the super-bowl. just as long as it a real good game.

This is going a little far. I remember when either Tim Couch or Manning came out of college, there was a profile of Manning in SI. One of the things that I vividly remember was that when Manning left school and was a fresh pro, he had to call his girlfriend/fiancee over to show him how to use a can opener. He needed instructions on how to order Chinese food.

There are much better role models in society than Peyton Manning. All the guy knows how to do is be a quarterback.

And this makes him a bad role model? Did you ever think that maybe he had a mom and dad who did these things for him and he was just then learning to fend for himself?

I'm sure kids won't be looking to Manning to learn how to open a can of food.

But, maybe they'll look at a guy who works hard, maintains a sense of humor and (as far as we know) doesn't do drugs. Manning is okay in my book--even if he doesn't know how to order Chinese food.

I saw the following in todays paper, it makes a case for the exact opposite...

GET A TOWEL READY
Sports psychologist Dr. John F. Murray foresees a Gatorade bath for Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy this Sunday.
Using his “Mental Performance Index,” a method of estimating how close a team has come to performing to perfection on a scale of .000 to 1.000, Murray has forecast that “the Colts should soundly defeat the Bears in Super Bowl XLI.” According to a news release, “Indianapolis (.547) scored much better than Chicago (.520) on the total MPI score throughout the playoffs, and higher than the Bears in all six other categories.
“The Colts were superb on offense, where they posted a .548 to .510 advantage over the Bears. They also held the advantage on defense (.536 to .515), special teams (.560 to .558), pressure offense (.458 to .394), pressure defense (.673 to .621) and total pressure (.570 to .507).”
Murray concluded, “Taken together, it appears that Chicago is outmatched in this game. The Bears will have to play an almost perfect game, win the battle of turnovers, and make huge plays to win this one.
“Indianapolis has so decisively outperformed Chicago that a two or three-touchdown victory looks imminent.”
Murray said his system has beaten the spread three times in the last four years and predicted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ easy victory over the Oakland Raiders in the 2003 Super Bowl.
Now, I don't really believe that this guy has the "perfect system". I am just pointing out that to say the Bears outclass the Colts in every aspect of the game, except passing, is not really accurate when looking at the previous playoff games this season.

IF the Colts defense play as well as it has against KC and NE, the Bears will have to pull out a "miracle" rivaling what they did against the Cardinals where they managed to win with the offense scoring only 3 points.

Why are you spoiling for a fight about something this stupid? I suppose that a lack of intellectual curiousity about this for the first 22 years of your life and allowing your mom and dad to do everything for you might mitigate in some ways the value of a person as a role model, yeah. But if you think that it's okay for a kid to pattern his life after someone who knows how to diagnose a Cover-3 over--say--Jonas Saulk, then that's totally your perogative.

Children that were born millionaires make tremendous role models.
