Anyone think the Cards will pull a shocker in the draft and draft someone noone thought they would have.

My surprise is the cards will pick up a RB the first day possibly Kevin Jones.

When DG was in MIN he would take players no one ever heard of, guys not slated in the top 7, or not slated to go as high as he took them in the mid and later rounds.
So the 2nd day might hold some surprises.

This team has some holes #2 WR, DT RG/RT, CB, speed RB.

DG might take a RB in the 3rd round someone like Julius Jones or Turner maybe or Tatum.

If K Jones drops to #33 he might have grabbed him BUT the dude ran a 4.6 the whole point was to get a SPEED RB 4.6 sucks (where did his speed go??) I don't think he takes him now.

THere will be no shockers day one IMO. Green's history is to take the top guy at that draft number the first day. That being said some might be surprised how we wheel and deal the first day.

Does anyone really know the difference bewteen 4.4 or 4.6. I'll save the wise guys the trouble and say .2 secs. But seriously, what is that like a half of a step or something. Can anyone without a stopwatch be like damn, that a 4.3 guy, vs a 4.6 guy?

Yeah, it's pretty funny that the "wisdom" of the Anquan Boldin pick works for WRs like Larry "Molasses/You Can Call Me Peter Warrick" Fitzgerald but vanishes when it comes to a player that was blindingly fast in school, but runs a sub-par 40 three times at his high-stakes workout.

Look at how fast Deion Sanders used to look compared to other players sometimes he looked like he was the only one moving at a good speed. I bet you he only had 3 or 4 10ths of a scecond on many of them but it made a hell of a difference!

He reached big time on defensive lineman; many were busts.
However he seemed almost brilliant on picking offense players; lots became all pro's.
Bottom line looking at the 10 year period (Denny's tenure); he would get IMO a very favorable rating.

The coach/gm that has never made a bad draft pick most likely is in his first draft.:D

Happens every single year, this year will be no exception. It will happen on day one too.

I always hated getting smoked by those 4.3-4.4 guys, how embarassing. It's noticeable on the field, what's more noticeable is how quick they get to that top gear, ie acceleration speed. Some got it, some don't. :D

Dude you misunderstood my post.

DG did great in the draft some of those later round reaches like B JOHNSON and BIRK became pro-bowlers. JK was an early round reach. Some dude he drafted in the 7th round was still playing in the NFL.

And you are being way to hard on DG's draft picks on DL and defense in general. Defensive wise he made some great picks. Fisk, G Brown, O Thomas def. rookie of the year, Washington, E McDaniel (probowler), Wong, Ty Carter. These guys were NOT busts they were solid NFL players for a long time.

Underwood and Boireau developed illnesses so they don't count against him. Howard got hurt.
He wanted to draft Sapp but wasn't allowed to as a second choice Alexander was a good player. He also wanted McAllister Kearse Smoot but for various reasons he could not take them. DG knew defense and did very very well. It's just that his offensive picks were so insanely good that his defensive picks get underrated.
