Survivor Heads for China

CBS has booked China as the location for the next edition of "Survivor."

The move to China for the 14th edition takes the series away from an island setting for the first time since the sixth installment, set in the Amazon jungle.

So instead of starvation and heat it will be trying to survive without breathable oxygen.

We'll see but at first glance China seems like a poor choice to me.

Poor choice seems like; it will be more like an episode of the Real World.

I wonder what kind of survival skills are needed to survive in a country with a population of over 1.3 billion? Probably no room for the scantily clad scruffies we are used to. This is not your father's Survivor.

Survvor China a poor choice? Wow!

Seems like a fantastic choice to me. China has some of the densest jungles and some of the most barren lands on the planet. I think it will be interesting.

Debut last night looked pretty good. Lots of interesting characters. Once again don't these people watch the show, several contestants show up dressed in completely inappropriate clothing(high heels, heavy army boots etc) and then are stunned to discover they lose all their clothes in their backpack and have only what they're current wearing. Duh.

First crack is I'm glad Chicken was the first to go he annoyed me immediately, I think they thought he'd be like Farmer Tom(?) the pig farmer from Virginia, but he wasn't nearly as entertaining.

PG could be next she seemed to tick off her entire tribe by being bossy.

The grave digger guy James what the hell is he digging graves for guy should be in the NFL, what an unreal body for an "ordinary" guy. Ashley is a WWE wrestler maybe she'll recruit James when they get off the show, guy is beyond ripped.

The area of China they're in is pretty similar to other survivor seasons, hot, rainy, muddy, remote, so it looks like it will be fairly interesting.

Agree completely about Chicken, PG however may be able to save herself because honestly her tribe does need to be led around a bit, by someone. Anyone? They stood around completely clueless for most of the time we spent with them.

Also agree about the appropriate dress. Do you people watch Survivor? When they were strolling into the temple with the suitcases I am saying, to the TV of course, that there are no suitcases in Survivor.

I liked the temple ceremony, was a bit put off by the woman who had to leave but at least respect her for leaving the building as opposed to rolling her eyes at the locals ala New York waitress, though it seems that she rolls her eyes at everyone.

James is working out to be my initial favorite, but I thought that from the previews that have been played, it takes me a few episodes to truly like or dislike any of the players, got a laugh out of the elementary school teacher wandering through the jungle in her bra with her dress tied around her waist like a sarong---wonder what her students and their parents thought.

Wow China is freaking beautiful, to think I didn't believe Survivor China would work because of the local, slap me. No Exile / Hidden Immunity this time? Though I am glad the rich camp/poor camp is out of there.

The location of this season of Survivor throws me every time. Remind's me of Eddie Murphy's line at the end of Golden Child:

Did you ever hear of Ed McMahon and "Star Search"? Do they have "Star Search" in Tibet? Probably not. Probably got "Food Search."

Couldn't agree more. The minute I leave my house and board the plane I'm wearing what I would want to wear when the game start.

I agree this cast seems pretty interesting. I really like the location. Looks like it will be really miserable with all the rain and mud. I bet people will have all kinds of problems with their feet in a couple of days.

I hope you end up right, because I didn't see what you're seeing. I thought almost all of the players were annoying, maybe the most annoying group to date. Great choice on location though.

I can't believe this crap is still on TV.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves for watching it. :slap:

So far the location is the big star, there aren't any breakout cast members yet.

The poker player he better be careful if he's really playing lazy as he claimed he is. He got one vote last night, if not for the Ashley and Dave arguments he may have found himself going home last night.

It seems like every year there's one contestant that Survivor just totally ignores the first few weeks, this year so far it's Denise. In fact I had to look it up to even remember her name and oddly if you look at her bio, she actually seems like she should be interesting? She apparently decided to cut back her career and be a school lunch lady so I imagine being on Survivor is a huge culture shock to her since she's probably used to being around kids(elementary school or at home) all the time?

I tend to assume when they don't show someone it's because they just think the person is boring?
