Daron Sutton was in-studio on Bickley and MJ this morning. He's prob still on so tune in if you want to listen.

He seems like a good fit here. He's young (only 37), grew up in MLB clubhouses (his father is Don Sutton), and was a very good collegiate baseball player who also played a couple years in the minor leagues (his minor league coach was Casey Kotchmans dad).

He made sure to note that he is a critical announcer who likes to call it as he see's it and doesn't place emphasis in what the players think about what he says. He said that it will take him awhlie to announce the way he usually does because he needs to get accustomed to the Dbacks players and style of play. He also noted that he must earn the fans respect first before he gets overly critical

He also mentioned that he likes to use humor while announcing so him partnered with Grace should be interesting.

There is a real possibility that Daron Sutton and Mark Grace will sink to sophomoric humor, feeding off each other, and not knowing when to stop.

Let's see if it becomes less than professional in the booth next season.

I'm very disappointed that the Diamondbacks went outside the organization and didn't promote a man who might be the next Vin Scully, Jeff Munn.

He's smooth. He's professional and thorough as a play-by-play man. And he has a surprisingly good knowledge of baseball history for a young guy.

He recently came in second to only Josh Brynes in a baseball trivia contest the D'backs held on the air, and Josh has far more baseball experience.

If Sutton doesn't do Fox Friday and Saturday games as Brennaman did, there won't even be a spot for Jeff Munn to do two radio play-by-play games a week, as he did last season.

That's a demotion he doesn't deserve.

Munn doesn't get the job because he is boring. Clearly there is a reason that there wasn't a promotion from within.

He's not as boring as Schulte. He seems like he isn't even interested in the game half the time.
