Not saying we flip the switch, but I do think its worth a discussion. 3-4 is LB based, we are very weak at LB. IMO, we have talent on the Dline.

CC, Carter, Dan, Dock on the frontline.
OBS (or Paris), Stewart (whos great in 4-3), and Washington. at LB.

What we're doing now isnt doing it. As a 3-4 our lineman get to the QB more than our LBs. thats a problem. Not like a change is gonna wreck the season since we're doing so well right now anyways. :sarcasm:

We don't have a rush DE, and our linebackers, except for Washington, aren't very well suited for a 4-3 either.

So how exactly is it any different than what we have now? We don't have rushing OLBs, and they aren't suited for the 3-4.

Why put our dominant ILB in a completely new role in a formation with no defensive ends? I don't get it, it is not the fault of defensive formation that the scouting department has failed to scout any OLBs with talent.

Especially since the Cards are running what amounts to a 4 man front most of the time now with guys even more ill suited to that formation.

Are there any 4-3 teams with two 245lb Defensive Ends?

Horton needs to be reigned in. Too many bizarre alignments that are just begging to be exploited....and then the other team exploits them

What I don't get is why on a long sustained drive when guys are clearly getting gassed, he doesn't use Schofield and Acho to add a bit of spark.

BIM: reined (as in the reins on a horse) ;)

Because our current OLB's are so dominant?

There's the million dollar question. Where were they!? HAggins and Porter brought ZILCH...THE WHOLE GAME.

And yeah, they do use Porter in just like a four man rush alignment. And it's atrocious! It worked with Berry b/c he was a real DE, when they were running that 3-4.

Wiz is not gonna switch to a 4-3 no matter how much it would make sense. Our only hope is that he throws his hands up and says give Schofield and Acho a chance. It can't get any worse. Then we can at least get them some time starting and see what we have at the end of the year.

Stewart Bradley and Paris Lenon both played in the 4-3 before coming to the Cardinals; Bradley coming in as a Mike and Lenon coming in as a Will. I'm sure it's possible to make Washington, Bradley and Lenon work as a group in the 4-3.

Throw Deuce into the mix as a backup DT as well. He's just sitting on his arse now collecting a check and at 350 plus at least he might take up some space.

I say screw it, it is a rebuilding year no matter what anyone tells me now and I still think in our division we can maybe sneak into the playoffs if this teams learns to finish- but if they don't I won't be a bummed knowing this situation is what it is. I thought we could run a 4-3 better too, but why change everything around now? Let the young players get their experience, and HOPEFULLY the front office addresses the weak spots going into next year after judging the players progressions. Horton wants to run a 3-4, so lets just get on with it and suffer the consequences this season with the belief some will learn while others will burn in the process

Let's just hope it doesn't turn into another rebuilding decade.

I agree with Jasper. Our DL seems pretty good against the run, we need OLB's that can rush the passer. And if we go to a 4-3, we'd need DE's who can rush the passer.

Our Dline is only good against the run when Dan Williams is in the game. They are adequate with Carter. They are awful when only Dockett and Campbell are at DT with the two Ancient Mariners playing DE.

I just don't get what the coaches are doing. You can't expect to have DD and CC playing 100% of the defensive snaps at tackle and not expect them to fade later in the game. Dan might be fat but he does take up space and can become a wall to a RB.

You guys know why Porter and Haggans are still starting? Because in practice they are up against Levi and Keith. You guys also know why Levi and Keith are still starting? Because they are up against Porter and Haggans in practice.
