My new HP laptop with Windows Vista is horrible. It won't recognize my wireless network, is extremely slow, even with 2MB ram, and continually fails to start just going to a blank screen and won't start back up after going into one of the power saving modes.

Does anyone know if I can safely remove the Vista operating system and use my Windows XP disc to load that operating system on to the computer?

Do you have any important data on it?

If it were me, I'd install XP by wiping that hard drive and starting over.

You can do it, but you'll probably need the drivers for the laptop to get things working once XP is installed, like audio, network, etc.

Two whole MB's huh? :)

Like CM said, you'd pretty much need to format the drive and start over.

That's your problem right there!!! I run 2GB RAM on both of my mac's, and 1GB in my PC. I think my mom's PC had 2MB of RAM back in 1988, but it was probably more like 8 or 16 MB's.

I'm just giving you a hard time. Sounds like your HP is pretty new, so I guess installing XP, you won't be losing too much data?

Nothing like bumping a 2 month old joke. :)
